Cougar Basketball Fun Fact No. 18

In our continuing effort to look forward to better days, we'll be bringing you one fun fact about the Cougar basketball team (almost) each day until the season officially tips off on Nov. 15. Some will be silly, some will be serious, but all will be vital to your knowledge as a Cougar basketball fan.

Did you know ...

... that the WSU record holder for free throws made in a season is Ron Bennink, who set the record with 185 in 1955?

For some perspective, consider that Kyle Weaver was the team leader last year in free throws made with 126. Even more astounding was that he attempted 176 free throws -- nine less than Bennink made in that record-setting season.

Hat tip to Jessica Schmick and the WSU Sports Information Department.

That is impressive

126/35 games means Kyle made 3.6 per game. I would guess that Bennink played in less games than Kyle. If so, that would make it even more astounding.
