Cloud Nine
#15 Arizona State beat Mississippi Valley State by 16.
The Cougs just beat them by 51.
They opened the game on a 28-0 run.
I bring this up, in part, because I got my Sports Illustrated college basketball preview issue today. The Sun Devils are on the cover. Scavenger hunt for you - try to find any mention of the WSU team or a Cougar player inside. It's like trying to find Waldo in there.
They also have USC Freshman Demar DeRozan (a 5-star recruit by scout.com) listed under "freshmen who aren't getting all the props they deserve". Excuse me, but I can't think of a talented freshman getting less "props" than Klay Thompson.
They also have Washington placed in their field of 64, but the Cougars conveniently not present.
But guess what? The Huskies just lost to Portland (80-74).
What a great night.
I'll have more on the basketball game later, including my thoughts on a rather surprising redshirt decision by Tony Bennett.

Might need to eat my words
If the amount of students that showed up tonight show up to our Pac-10 games, there will be a lot of sad(or pissed) students who don’t get to come in. Student section was full, and we’re talking the last rows of each section full.

Remember when we used to wait in line for no reason?
Stand outside for two hours to get in and wait for two hours when there was 12 of us in line (H, you, me, brown matt, randy, isaac, the foss bros, shelby, nicole, joey, and a few others). Remember when 8,000 people was billed as “the biggest crowd since 94-95” I love it.

I thought that same thing yesterday
when I drove by Beasley. I thought…I can’t believe they are lining up at 2pm for this game. My bf quickly reminded me that a few years ago he couldn’t even talk to me during basketball season let alone game days because I was gone for 14 hours. Those were the days huh?? I still find myself commenting on things I think the ZZU CRU should or shouldn’t be doing! Remember those days when the bandwagoners drop off :)
I’m glad they are showing up though. I still think they should make sure everyone in the first 5 rows must have crimson on. Two girls front row center were wearing bright orange and green. Who decides to go to the basketball game in bright orange??

I bet I know who was wearing the orange
And one of them was probably caleb’s fiance.

Hmm...
I did see her but she wasn’t the one, does she usually sport non-crimson? This girl was likely someone who doesn’t go to basketball games, let alone ever sit in the front row, otherwise she would have known better. My guess is her bf went early and saved her a spot.

students and the future
i’m glad the students are finally coming out. i expect that has a lot to do with frosh who have watched the team the last 2 years, and were dying to get a taste live. this team is showing there might not be a drop off from last year at all. Baylor and the Zags…………that week is going to be huge. After watching Zag pups today it is clear they are the EXACT same team from last year. A team we lead from the tip in their place. Very exciting time to be a Coug Hoop fan. Low expectations to start the season will only continue to grow…..GO COUGS. Oh, and Weaver needs to get Desmon Masonds mins.

It may end up being false hope.
But so far my hope meter is bursting.

Also, if I remember correctly.
ASU lost the rebounding game to MVSU and we beat them, like, 5 billion to 7.

The Huskies losing makes me so happy
I live in Seattle and I have to hear people talk about how good their team is going to be. But a good Pac 10 team does not lose to Portland! Plus the ASU score compared to ours. We beat this team by more than we beat them last year! I didn’t even think you could beat a 71-26 score. Amazing. I can’’t wait to see these guys live in December.

Ken Pomeroy
Hey I know it doesn’t mean much one game into the season, but for you stat heads out there, the Washington State Cougars are ranked number one in Ken Pomeroy’s ranking system. Very Cool!!!!
