A question for the ages
Here's a great question that we could debate until the end of eternity ...

Not really.
Not from WSU.
OSU, UW – even UCLA. They I had an idea.
But not our eastern Washington buddies. :-(

On the bright side
You’re currently trailing UW!
Can’t speak for everyone else, but hands down the worst experiences I’ve had with opposing fans have come at Oregon. And not just at football games, but at Mac Court at both men’s and women’s games. And not just as a fan, but when I was a working member of the media, too. Many of my friends had similar experiences, so that probably has something to do with it.
Oh, that and jealousy over Phil Knight’s bajillion dollars he gives to your athletic department.

The Pit...
I have minimal respect for the Pit at Mac Court. Those guys are over the top.
Every team has a pretty mixed bag of fans. I’ve even gotten in trouble for calling fellow duck fans idiots.
As for Phil Knight – yeah, we do get that a lot. It’s nice, and I think it’s a shame other schools don’t get the same type of treatment from their big-hit, oil rich Alma Mater, but I don’t really take it for granted.
I for one hope that some good can come to Pullman. You guys have a great campus, and a great stadium. (And a pretty good blog too).

Hmm...
Didn’t consider their fan base when I made my vote, if I had I may have given Oregon a moment or two more consideration…but the AC losses from ‘00-’03 were the clinchers.
I will never forget for the rest of my life the feeling of utter loathing and frankly depression as I stood in the student section gape-mouthed at the end of the ’02 AC in Martin Stadium as the Husky faithful stormed our field following the triple over-time loss.
I’m sure every die-hard is well aware, but I’ll say it again just to let the fact sink in: We were ranked #3 in the country before that loss. #3. In the country. We could have gone to the national championship game. And the Huskies, defying all odds, won on a fluke a game they had no business even being close in. Kai Ellis will forever be, in my book, on of the top sports villains of all time.

Agreed
How in the world could any loyal Coug hate Oregon more than Washington?? Regarding the 2002 Apple Cup, don’t forget to add Terry Johnson to your list of sports villians of all time. After all, it was he who knocked Gesser out of that game. We were in complete control and if Gesser isn’t hurt, we win by 10, easy.
Also, let’s not forget the 2001 and 2003 Apple Cup, when we were #9 and #8 and playing for a BCS bowl and Pac-10 Championship each year. Think about how much both of those Apple Cup losses cost us! We could have been back-to-back-to-back Pac-10 champs. And that’s just recently.
But even worse, it’s that smug arrogance beaming from Husky fans like “well we knew we were going to beat you. Even when you were at your best in school history, we still beat you”. To me, maybe before the 2001-2003 stretch I may have answered Oregon, just as an in-state respect thing. But frankly, it’s crazy now for any Coug to not hate UW more.

I'd rather see this poll
With the Huskies choosing between us and UO. That would be interesting.

Husky fans would choose UO.
Unfortunately, except for brief stretches in our football and basketball history, things have been a little lopsided in Husky favor. Meanwhile, Oregon appears to have hit it’s stride in football, being consistently in the top 25 year in and year out since the beginning of the decade. And it burns Husky fans, particularly espoused by the talking heads on KJR, to know that Oregon is the better school athletically, because Husky fans think that their tradition indicates that they should be the superior program. A delusional ideology, to be sure, but that’s another story…

Really?
Honestly, I think none of us had any idea. With so many Huskies to hate, why on Earth do you hate us?
I had no clue.

See my comment above
It’s nothing personal, and I’m sure lots of you guys are very nice. But the chip-on-the-shoulder/smugness factor of many of your fans is a quite large put off for many WSU fans.
To be honest, as the kid brother institution in our state, we feel a much stronger kinship with your neighbor to the south.
