A little basketball on your football Friday

Just a little bit of basketball news to pass along on this fabulous football Friday.

Coach Tony Bennett was a guest Friday morning on Mitch in the Morning on KJR in Seattle to promote the Cougar Hardwood Classic. You can listen to the full interview yourself here; it's probably worth your time.

The topics ranged from Bennett making fun of Levy for opening with a song by the other Tony Bennett, to the scheduling challenges the Cougars face (seriously? Montana State?), to updates on Weaver and Low, to what we can expect from the freshmen this year, to why Bennett stayed in Pullman (for the 854th time).

Why is Bennett promoting the game in September? Because tickets for the game on Dec. 13 in KeyArena go on sale to the general public tomorrow through the princes of evil themselves, Ticketmaster. No mention of what time they go on sale if you're truly dying to be first in line.

Great Clip

Thanks for the scoop. I love Mitch’s interviews, he always has great questions and knows how to not take himself too seriously.

He's one of the best interviewers around

There are a lot of things he doesn’t do that well — like follow all of the sports in the depth he should (which is why he always had Fish or Sandmeyer) — but he is a fantastic interviewer. I put him right up there with Jim Rome. Maybe even better.

Very underrated.
