The igniter remix

Ballgame to KC!

"He's an on-base guy, a speed-type player and a hustler," Royals general manager Dayton Moore said. "He's a Craig Counsell-type who really plays hard, hustles and knows how to play."

Bloomquist is regarded as an "igniter" who is also well-regarded for his leadership abilities. Moore said his best positions are second base and center field.

I can't stop laughing.

Me too

Now I don’t have to listen to moron fans talk about how awesome he is anymore.

I have no issue with WFB as a reserve outfield

And even at 2 yrs/3 mil with KC, there are more overpaid players out there.

But an “on-base guy”? He did .279/.377/.285, and this was one of his better years. Sure, he does some fun things on base, but so does my fantasy SB hero Scott Podsednik. And he’s currently bouncing around in the minors.

Speaking of fantasy baseball

We should start a CougCenter baseball rotisserie league. Who’s with me?

Oh, and the only reason there are more overpaid players out there

Is because there are bigger idiots with bigger wallets out there. As the guys at USSM like to say, you can get WFB’s production out of 200 different minor leaguers who will play for the league minimum.

I'd do it

I’m trying to regain the form of my 2007 championship team. And I do like roto because there’s less dumb luck involved compared to h2h.

I agree

Better true measure of how a team performed. Although, true stat heads will tell you that having a league based on arbitrary measures such as batting average, hits, ERA and WHIP — which are heavily dependent on defense and luck — is dumb in any form. But I don’t care. I like it.

I lost a championship tiebreak once

because Yahoo used ERA as the default tie-break.

It still hurts.

I'm down.

I play way too much fantasy baseball. You guys would be in for some fierce competition…

Don't forget

He also grinded them out of a roster spot.

It'll be interesting to see if

Royals fans like a hustling white guy as much as M’s fans did. I’ve never considered Seattlites a covertly racist bunch, but their love affair with Bloomquist and various issues with Ichiro and Beltre kind of imply that.

He's a "speed-type player"

not an actual fast player, like Ichiro, he’s just the type that would do well if he had speed. Oh, and power, also an arm. If he had those things, he would be a good player.
