Opponent Capsule: Stanford
Location: Palo Alto, CA
Nickname: Cardinal
Synchronized swimming championships: 6
Record: 11-2 (1-2 Pac-10)
Coach: Johnny Dawkins, 1st year
Last meeting: Stanford 75, WSU 68 (Pac-10 tournament semifinals)
The favorite: Washington State by 2.5 (Seriously)
Player we should be worried about: Anthony Goods. Goods averages 17.3 points per game, and is part of a new, more perimeter-oriented Stanford team. So long, Lopez twins (thank God). Stanford is now an outside shooting team led by Goods and Lawrence Hill. Question is, can the Cougs match up with Goods well enough to limit his points?
Player we should not be worried about: Matei Daian. 0 points per game? That's what I average! Go back to Romania.
Key to the game: Stanford ranks 16th nationally in 3-point percentage defense. The Cougars, as you may have noticed, haven't exactly been lighting it up from there recently. Either the Cougs need to find ways to get open threes, or pound it inside to Baynes who should have a much easier time, compared to last year.

pre game thoughts
can Taylor and Klay keeping it going for 40 mintues? combine that with a shaq baynes bounce back can we finally get a win this season? the pac-10’s coaches might be among the best in the country now that cal has montgomery and osu has obama’s bro-in law. only U of A doesn’t have a big name guy. if gonzaga played in the pac-10 would they ever finish in the top half, unlikely given their strugles with back to back top 100 rpi teams. does nik get 20+ minutes? does our bench score?
sign we get blown out…we start the game by holding them to 2 of 10 shooting only to end up down 2 at half. we have to get hot in the first half at some point right?

Surprised we are favored yet once again...
If I’m not mistaken, we were also favored in our first two Pac-10 games.
Furd has some good guards which gives them a very good chance of winning in my opinion.
