MILLER: Tuel gets a helmet sticker!
By my count, it's the first one all year for the fightin' Cougs. Baby steps, people. Baby steps.

the kid definitely gives you some hope
now about the defense, special teams and excruciatingly slow starts….

Is it just me.....
But I am not a big fan of Ted Miller’s blog, he is a total UW homer and writes up way to many articles about them, I stopped reading him long ago…..usually stick with this blog.

I love his blog
The one think that really irked me was when he made his “NW tour” and didn’t come to Pullman. Other than that I like his coverage.
Vote for Butch!

Well, if we beat USC, we'd be written about, too
I honestly don’t think he skews that much toward UW. I think he generally does a pretty balanced job.

I woke up this morning with a strange thought
I literally sat straight up in bed and started thinking about the great cougar defenses of the ’90’s. I have been so down on the defense the past two years that I was starting to believe the a school like WSU could never get the speed and strength to be a dominating defensive force. But that is just stupid. WSU was near the top in the nation in defense from 92ish through 95ish.
I seem to remember that our linebackers were often oversized high school running backs that Doba liked to convert … Mark Fields for one. I don’t remember hearing about this sort of move any more. Is it outdated? Do players not want to be converted? Or is it just under-publicized because we suck at it? Rhetorical questions I’m sure, but couldn’t that be the key to a new success on defense?
I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. Ugh

Seems a lot like what the Cougs are trying to do right now ...
But it also seems like offenses are different now. A lot of those guys were fast downhill tacklers. Teams just didn’t spread you out 15 years ago the way they do now.
