For the second consecutive year, the soccer team -- which has been on the fringes of the top 25 all season long -- is headed to the NCAA Tournament. They'll play Villanova in the opener on Friday. It's the first time the program has made back-to-back appearances in the field. You can find the full bracket here.

For those keeping track, in the last 12 months WSU has now sent teams to the NCAA Tournament field in baseball and soccer, volleyball will be there soon, we had a track individual NCAA champion, and our men's basketball team was also selected for a postseason tournament. All those people who try to promote this hogwash that WSU isn't fit for the Pac-10 would do well to remember there are more sports than football.

Hopefully VB.

Cougs have been screwed before. This should be the third straight trip for the soccer, but for the selection committee choosing AZ over WSU despite the fact that WSU not only beat AZ, but finished higher in the conference standings!

Re: PacTen "hogwash"

Money is the issue that will cause us problems, not football, per se.

But… what’s the number one revenue generator for WSU athletics?

Awesome to see us doing well in other sports, though. Hopefully men’s and women’s BB have good years and see some postseason play….

That might be true for ADs, but that's not really true for fans

They point to the football team and say, “Look! They suck at football! Let’s get Boise State!” The football team will be back, and although I’m no historian, I’d bet the strength of the rest of the programs cumulatively is as high as it’s ever been at WSU.

I hate the Boise St. argument (not saying you are suggesting it). You bring Boise St. to the Pac they will fall

off dramatically. Boise St. has the same pitch that the Zags have, come play for us rather than a lower tier BCS school because we will win 90% of our games in our conference and get you into post-season play and an excessive amount of tv exposure. You put Boise St in our league, ESPN goes bye-bye and now they are competing with the big boys on the field and in recruiting. Good luck!!
Boise St would be idiots to even look to move.

If the Pac-10 ever were to expand they would be better off

going after a BYU-Utah combo. Those teams are well rounded in other sports, they have tradition and nice big stadiums. And ow yeah- them both being from Utah would keep the nice rivalry pairing the Pac-10 has.

Vote for Butch!
