More changes ...

Given the visual update to the site this morning, today seemed like as good a day as any to implement some other minor changes to CougCenter. A few things I want to alert you to.

We've put in a video highlight widget in the righthand sidebar. It's an opportunity that was presented to us to generate some more revenue for the site (and when we say "some more," what we really mean is "literally a few more dollars a month added to the peanuts we make for this labor of love") while adding something we thought you guys might like, so we decided to give it a go.

The video features a WSU playlist, but the Coug highlights are pretty sparse (the last one is from USC). On the bright side, all the Apple Cup highlights from last year are still there. So we've got that going for us. Which is nice. There's also a Pac-10 playlist and a national playlist.

The video plays automatically when you come to the site, but you've got to turn the audio on, so you don't have to worry about alerting your boss to your off-task behavior. We already know the video is a little choppy, but it's not terrible. We're hoping the quality gets a little better.

Shoot us your thoughts via e-mail when you use it. Like it? Hate it? Killing your load time of the page? Let us know.

We've also put in a permanent podcast player widget in the righthand sidebar. I actually did that a week ago or so, but I wanted to alert you to it if you hadn't seen it. It gives you access to all of our podcast files without searching for the actual posts.

I also rearranged some of the other widgets, and cleaned up the sections to reflect our actual content, which are now featured prominently in the upper left corner of the blog.

I think that's about it. Feel free to give us feedback.

I'm craving Sonic tater tots.

I have no idea why.

Finally visited my first Sonic last week.

I was sufficiently underwhelmed by the tots. Thought they were rather ordinary.

It's killing my load time

but if no one else has the problem I’ll let it slide

Oh also

Is there a way to make the Sonic highlights not play automatically? That’s one of my pet peeves at any website.
