We were robbed.
There is absolutely nothing else to say. We won this game.
I'm embarrassed for the Pacific 10 Conference today.

Here's a good story for ESPN....
I will contribute to the fund if Bone gets fined for post game comments.
I wasn't alive in 1972
But if I had been, I would already know what this feels like. Too bad there’s no medal stand for us to boycott.
refs called a technical on us in OT with .4 secs left. Oregon made 2 free throws to tie it and then went on to win in double OT.
basically, there was a ridiculous call on us that cost us this game.
End of 1st OT, D makes a layup to go up by 2 with .3 sec
The refs call a T on our bench for celebration. Porter ties it to send it to a 2nd OT. Oregon takes the lead with a shot with .3 sec to go and does the same thing, no call. Game over.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!
Every team celebrates when they make a last second basket. They just showed the replay on the news here and Oregon’s celebration when they won was worse then what they called the technical on for WSU.

Nice to call the game differently.
There is no excuse. These refs should not ref another game this year. They should be suspended.
I'd still like to know why we can't celebrate a basket....
All Oregon had to do was inbound the ball anyway. Our kids could be running all over the court, it’s not an issue. There was no unsportsmanship being displayed anywhere. Casto was pumping his fist, that’s all that happened.
Homered at HOME!
This one sets a new low for Pac 10 ref’s.
&%$#%#%#$
Its a stupid call in the first place
and if your gonna call it its gotta go both ways.
I haven't been this angry in so long.
What could have possibly happened that would warrent them to call something like that. I hope that zebra gets fired.
by balogan on Dec 31, 2009 6:22 PM PST via mobile reply actions
This reminds me of another famous call in a football game
Casto makes his shot and then walks away. That’s all that happened. It’s Oregon’s ball, plain and simple. Nobody touched the ball after the make.
Refs should be investigated
Oregon can be on the court celebrating and we cannot? If they are going to make lame calls like that they need to be consistently lame.
My main thing is that....
Oregon did the same thing in 2OT!!!!

During the Eastman era I seem to remember the Cougs getting robbed
against Arizona because a fan supposedly through a cup on the court and WSU was T’d up.
i can only imagine how much stuff would be on the court today
if the students were in town…
nothing
they take away our water bottle caps now
i was at that game
Lute Olson grabbed the mic at one point to yell at the students. that didn’t go over too well
www.nwfan.com
I'd like to see the names of the refs
And who to contact to complain.

Anyone notice how horrible OSN network is?
They can’t spell at all! Somebody needs to proof read their graphics!
“Women’s Baskteball”
“Padadena”
There were like 3 baskets that went in and weren’t videotaped because the cameraman was so bad.

best case scenario we get another apology letter. still doesn’t mean we won the 2002 apple cup….
theres still 3 seconds left in the rose bowl too damnit

i guess i was just referring to the apology thing
we got an apology from the pac-10 for the apple cup. didn’t mean squat.
totally agree
A we screwed up apology doesn’t reverse what happened. It does highlight how Fd up the officiating is when it changes games.

Players that weren’t currently in the game were on the floor when a timeout was called. It was a valid call.
It’s not surprising that you guys don’t know how to win though-you guys ARE washington state.

Really?
You must think you are funny coming here to piss off some people. I think that you know that call was crap otherwise you wouldn’t expect us to complain. There was nothing that could have happened in the .2 seconds that remained. I know you just going to respond with something stupid to try to get me and others angry do us a favor and don’t it’s really immature.

I like the states of Oregon and Tennessee
For the mentally retarded like you, there is always a school for you to attend. When you graduate and move away, there is a state like Tennessee that if you cannot find a mate, you can always marry your sister.
Ouch.
Too bad I don’t have a sister! Nor am I originally from Tennessee.

why was it not called both ways
by Brian Floyd on Dec 31, 2009 7:18 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
uhh...
you actually said upthread you were trying to “get a reaction”.
stoppage of play
There was a stoppage- one ref was looking at the clock the others two were looking at all the UO guys signaling for time and then a call was made. After UO scored in the 2nd OT they too went on the floor before the ref signaled the TO call. You are whistling into the headwind and you know it. Congrats on the win… lame though it was. See you at MAC.

by Brian Floyd on Dec 31, 2009 7:25 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
The difference is that if happened the other way, I would have called it a stupid call and a
gift for the Cougars. I would have been happy with the win, but I would vehemently say that WSU stole a game because of the refs. Bad calls are bad calls whether they happen for or against us.
But I cannot say it was a bad call.
It was called per the rule book. I honestly didn’t see the Oregon bench event you referred to. So I can’t comment.
by TennesseeQuackAttack8 on Dec 31, 2009 7:27 PM PST up reply actions
If every call was made to the letter of the rulebook, there would be no players left to play in any game
A coach is not supposed to step onto the floor during play, yet I have never seen a game where both coaches didn’t step onto the floor during play. A coach is not supposed to be past a line near the scorers table, yet I have never seen a game where both coaches didn’t step over the line.
On the TV broadcast, they showed one replay of the oregon player driving for the final layin. From the angle of the replay, you could see one oregon player and he jumped onto the court in celebration when the shot went into the basket. The oregon announcer’s even admitted as much. There may have been more players on the court celebrating, but I cannot say because as I said the angle of the camera shown only the one player.
Similarly to the Casto bucket, a timeout was also called as the circumstances were exactly the same. A technical should have called on the oregon bench if you are going by the letter of the rule.
Per the rule book
Oregon would have had 30 more turnovers from the palming your guards were doing all friggin night.
Dunnigan would have fouled out mid-2nd half from the muggings he was laying on guys down low.
Porter (i think it was him) would have fouled out from grabbing the shorts of Cougs who were running around screens while playing “defense.”
I actually don’t have a problem with these non calls, because the refs used discretion to not involve themselves in every possible aspect of the game, and let the players dictate the outcome. On the other hand, in the technical foul, they DIRECTLY injected themselves into the game and CHANGED the outcome. They could have easily given a warning, sent them off the court and started the 5 second count then, but instead assessed a penalty. And within two second of the Casto lay in, a Duck player called the TO… and NO ONE was set to inbound the ball.
In other words the players and fan on the court had NO IMPACT on game play, but the refs called it anyways. That is a travesty, regardless of the fact that it happened to my team.
by TiltingRight on Dec 31, 2009 11:04 PM PST up reply actions
During the half time of the husky-Beaver game
They showed a replay of the Oregon game winning shot. There were about 5-6 players several feet onto the court celebrating.
Just saw that as well
The fact that it wasn’t called is every bit as bad as the fact that it was called on us. If your going to call it, you have to call it both ways.
Why did the clock stop
on Casto’s made basket? There were no oregon guys rushing to take the ball in… had the Ducks called for a T.O.? And did they have one left? Coug fans were celebrating the whistle they heard thinking Casto had a free throw coming. What a horrible solution they came up with to cover their awful call. The time of .3 makes it impossible to catch and shoot by rule correct? Highly suspicious ruling…
If you can't Go Cougs... don't go.
my guess was
the play stopped to figure out how much time was on the clock.
yes but...
if the opposition/inbounding team is making no effort to do so- how long do they wait. Also- did they have a t.o. left or not, cu WSU didn’t call one. Also, .3 is considered not long enough by rule to touch and shoot— so why didn’t that factor into it? Dizzyingly poor work by the zeebs…
If you can't Go Cougs... don't go.
by hollyweirdcoug on Jan 1, 2010 1:15 PM PST up reply actions
For what it is worth,
… you guys were robbed. The call was probably right from a technical rule book perspective, but the purpose of the call is to maintain floor safety. Since no one was in danger of any sort, refs should have sat on the call. They are supposed to use judgment in those circumstances. Reminds me of the Locker celebration penalty against BYU.
The bigger question, of course, is how is Oregon even in a position to put this game in OT or 2OT. Looking forward to your debate on that.
Damn, my eyeball tastes good.
That ones easy and you should know the reason well
A long layoff disrupts the team. UW had the same problem this year. We had a terrible first half, closed the gap in the 2nd, and should’ve won in OT. Blowing a 5 point lead with under a minute isn’t excusable, though.
