Around SBN: The End Of Sabanball: Details, Barbarians, And Precision

Since everyone has an opinion...

Who do you think should be the Cougs' starters?  Obviously, Taylor, Klay, and Aron's names are written in stone at this point, but those other two spots seem to be up for debate (at least here on the interwebs, anyways).  So, based on performance, potential, season outlook, seniority (or lack thereof), or whatever you like, choose the combination of players you'd start if you were Tony Bennett.  Feel encouraged to elaborate as to why you chose who you did.

Side note:  I only made options based on who has started this year, and where they are positioned.  So no, no option for Enquist/Bailey.

Agree with Nuss

Capers/Forrest at the moment with Capers/Casto a close second.

All right oldman, I agree with the Casto/Forrest

combo. It won’t work against pressing teams, but I think we can force teams to have to match up with us and nobody in the Pac can sport a 1-2 punch in the post like Baynes and Casto.

No Enquist/Bailey?

And you call yourself a cougar fan…I went Capers/Forrest. The best defensive guard and a Forward that gives us scoring ability. Best of all it leaves Casto on the bench to provide energy when needed. I really think capers/casto is the best combo, though.

Sounds Wierd.

I actually put Koprivica/Forrest. My reasoning is the last Cal game. I don’t remember our offense looking so fluid as it did in the first half of that game. Then for some reason we played Harmeling for 20 minutes and messed up the chemistry (horrible stats for 20 min). That guy can not handle the rock. I do love Casto because all his hustle and intangibles make up for his minor mistakes, but it is nice to have that spark off the bench. Lately Koprivica has actually shown some flashes of skill (like he did when he was a freshman with knee high socks). He has been driving the lane and finishing (only a couple times). We need that. He had 5 assists in 29 minutes against Cal. We need people driving the lane and getting to the line. I also have to say that Capers has looked a lot more comfortable in the offense. That makes me feel better. I can see why Bennett is having trouble deciding, but I think he needs to just stick with one starting line up, because that helps people settle into their roles. I hate to say it, but we will need Koprivica next year.

I like to have experience coming off the bench

That’s why I picked Capers/Casto combination to start. It’s easier for them to get into a flow by starting. I’d rather bring Harmeling, Kopravica, or Forrest in when we need to change things up, depending on the situation.

I had to go Capers/Forrest as well

Casto is good energy off the bench giving either Forrest or Baynes a breather. Capers can be a good ball handler and defender and doesn’t need to score much when in with TR, KT, AB, and CF.
