THAT WAS INSANE

I had to TiVo today's WSU/UCLA game, and then pray that I didn't hear the score all day when I was out. I didn't.

Part of me is glad, part of me is still recovering from the seven acute ST-elevation heart attacks I suffered in the final three minutes.

That was one of the worst officiated games I have ever seen in my life.

That was one of the best games I have ever seen in my life.

I love you, Taylor Rochestie.

Some bonus random thoughts:

  • How did UCLA miss so many open jumpers for the first 17 minutes of the second half, and then nail everything near the end?
  • If you're in a situation where protecting the ball is important, Nikola Koprivica should never be on the floor.
  • With free throws becoming important, what were our two worst regular FT shooters (Koprivica and Casto) doing out there?
  • Thanks, Dave Libbey, for letting your ego dominate the first half.
  • How did we score 42 points in a half?
  • Why is it that whenever we get a huge road win, it always ends up immensely benefiting the Huskies?
  • Taylor and Klay - it's been a thrill to watch you play together.

I did the same thing

My father watched the game live and when I came home he watched it with me. I don’t think I could have done that without leaking any info from this awesome game. Great win. If these guys can get up for a game like this than you don’t know what they’ll do come Pac-10 tourney time. GO COUGS!

Awsome game

My brother recently pointed out to me that in almost every cougar loss, there is a goat that dooms our chances. Lets see the last 2:

USC- Klay Thompson 2-13 FG 3 TO
ORST- Taylor Rochestie 2-11 FG 4 TO

Tonight, only 2 players shot less then 50%. Capers who went 0-1, small sample, and Thompson 6-11, great night 5 boards, 5 assists. Overall, everyone shot great. Great team win, and most importantly, no goats

I meant

Thompson was 6-13

Yep

We have only three guys (Taylor, Baynes, Klay) who can score consistently. If one of them is off, one of the other two have to compensate or we’re in all kinds of trouble.

to be fair

there were two “non-turnovers” that nik had in the closing minute or so. but one was klay’s fault.

we don’t have a team of ballhandlers. there isn’t really an offense we can throw out there that will break a frenetic press with ease like we could last year.

free throws, i’ll give you. but who are you going to sub in…daven?

Actually, yes

I can’t find many good reasons to justify having Daven on the floor in regular situations. But in last minute free throw situations – he’s tall, doesn’t turn the ball over much, and is a 83% FT shooter.

The only problem is that I have is that I don’t think I’ve ever seen him at the line in a pressure situation. Plus, he’s only attempted 12 FTs this entire season. So he hasn’t exactly had the most experience there this year.

But you're absolutely right

About our lack of ballhandlers. Hopefully Anthony Brown and Xavier Thames solve that next season.
