I clicked the "classy take" link in the Lobbestael article and I found the UW Dawg Pound page to be ridiculous. They had a picture of a man carrying a lamb and they brought out stupid quotes from old Cougar players. I have to admit the Courtney Williams quote was funny. I wonder what he was busy doing during his shortened college career?
I don't think CougCenter is the kind of place where our administrators would post something like this about UW. They are level headed writers. It was interesting to read scout.com's article on Lobbestael, which cleared up many incorrect facts. It also made those who jumped to conclusion look uninformed. UW Dawg Pound is being ridiculous by bringing this up. Like Grady said, Lobbestael is college student. 90% of all college students drink.
UW Dawg Pound acts like the Cougars have nothing better to do. College students nation wide do the same thing. I have partied at both WSU and UW (and many other schools). The difference was one college was in a big city (where I thought I was going to get jumped on the way to a 2am Taco Bell run) and the other was in a small town with camaraderie.
Both sides could go on and on about Ryan Leaf, Jerramy Stevens or Billy Joe Hobert, but face it statistically people get in trouble. Maybe UW Dawg Pound should read more articles like this one by their own alumni. Take the time to read it. I was actually kind of shocked and saddened by the article. Two dozen UW players in trouble with the law? I wouldn't wish that on anyone's program. It makes Lobbestael look like an angel. After reading that article I have high respect for David Boardman and how he reported the facts not bias.
Even though Willingham did not win, at least he tried to restore dignity to the program. I would love nothing better than in the future to see two classy, competitive programs battle it out in the Apple Cup and represent the state of Washington with dignity. I believe Wulff will do that and hopefully Sarkisian will do it as well.
With this all being said I found a post on CougCenter by John Berkowitz (UW Dawg Pound) that was light hearted about the Lobbestael situation. So, maybe I jumped to conclusions and his post on UW Dawg Pound was really meant to be tongue and cheek. Thanks, for the post and support for Lobbestael. Sometimes it is hard to know and discern the writers actual intentions.
johnnycougar...your right it is great to see Lobbestael's repaired knee can support the weight.
