Tony Bennett for Heisman!

by johnnycougar on Mar 21, 2009 10:22 AM PDT up reply actions

I bet my cousin 15 bucks

that there would not be four Pac-10 teams in the sweet 16. Seemed like easy money before the tourney. Now, i’m in the awkward position rooting for/against pac-10 schools. I think UCLA, UW, AZ (facing a 13 seed), and USC could all win. ASU will have a tough time with a seasoned Syracuse. I could see only 1 team advance, and I could see all 5. Should be fun…

by peaty411s on Mar 21, 2009 10:12 AM PDT reply actions

These refs are really picky

In the Pac 10, any time you get a defender in the air and then sort of jump into him, that was a foul. Too bad for DC.

I only caught the last ten seconds of the X Men Origins trailer

And I immediately thought it was a spoof.

Good thing Josh Shipp pressured the guy bringing the ball up rather than getting back to his man on defense. Otherwise they might have gotten a wide open three.

It's getting ugly early

Plus they are playing in front of a home crowd for Nova

I'm not feeling these coke zero commercials

So coke brand managers are upset that a sub-brand is doing well?

Tony Bennett for Heisman!

by johnnycougar on Mar 21, 2009 10:32 AM PDT reply actions

Really? I think they're kinda clever.

Coke Zero tastes so much like Coke that there must be something illegal….

Just saying.

And Coke Zero DOES taste amazingly like Coke.

by TiltingRight on Mar 21, 2009 11:27 AM PDT up reply actions

yeah

just settle down UCLA and work your way back in this

Tony Bennett for Heisman!

by johnnycougar on Mar 21, 2009 10:37 AM PDT reply actions

Nova made a statement early....

By putting Collison on his butt. I thought it was something the Cougs should have done with him too in the Pac-10 tourney.

someday

ucla will start making their 3s again

Tony Bennett for Heisman!

by johnnycougar on Mar 21, 2009 10:50 AM PDT reply actions

Every possession is starting to become critical for Ucla

You can just see how they are playing kind of tight. Missing foul shots isn’t helping the cause.

by SW WA Coug on Mar 21, 2009 10:51 AM PDT reply actions

agreed

Shipp is also starting to show signs of life

Tony Bennett for Heisman!

by johnnycougar on Mar 21, 2009 10:53 AM PDT up reply actions

Same old axiom....

Ucla has to finish strong this half and whoever starts the 2nd half the strongest probably has a major advantage. It needs to be Ucla. It takes a lot of energy to climb out of a hole this deep.

by SW WA Coug on Mar 21, 2009 10:55 AM PDT reply actions

meanwhile

this UCLA team was the one that lost to us at home

I got up and said

“what the hell happened” I think I may be losing my first Elite Eight team this morning.

I'm not sure what the stats say but....

Ucla started out kind of like the Cougs did against them and St. Mary’s. Nova is being very physical with them too.

That was a great way to start

by Craig Powers on Mar 21, 2009 11:27 AM PDT reply actions

This is not a very typical Ucla team....

In the discipline department. Playing in Philly isn’t helping either.

by SW WA Coug on Mar 21, 2009 11:28 AM PDT reply actions

Nova isn't intimidated at all....

I think they realize Pitt, UConn, Louisville, etc. are much better teams than Ucla is this year.

Wait til UConn does it to them for the third time, and it will happen. I don’t see how they can avoid it again.

I just turned on my TV and what do I see

a 20 point deficit.

who put bricks on UCLA’s shoes?

by ximiankernel on Mar 21, 2009 12:01 PM PDT reply actions

When I saw that Ucla had to play Nova in Philly....

I factored in the travel immediately. It’s the same for NFL teams as well. It’s a really tough adjustment. Traveling west is not a big deal, but going east really is. I also thought ASU would lose to Temple because of that very reason as well, having to go all the way to Miami.

by SW WA Coug on Mar 21, 2009 12:19 PM PDT reply actions

The difference there is

temple isn’t from Miami like Nova is from Philly. Now UCLA knows what its like to play a postseason tournament game that’s essentially on the road.

by J.J. FeKl on Mar 21, 2009 2:04 PM PDT up reply actions

This first round of games today isn't holding my attention

But I’m excited for the Washington game and the Gonzaga game.

Zags will be a fun one

UW will probably be a closer one though, it could go either way

Tony Bennett for Heisman!

by johnnycougar on Mar 21, 2009 2:46 PM PDT reply actions

UW looks like they need to settle down a bit

But they play at a breakneck speed, so slowing it down may not be in their best interest. They just look a little out of sorts.

Brockman got away with one

He pushed the Purdue guy out of bounds right in front of the official

by SW WA Coug on Mar 21, 2009 3:06 PM PDT reply actions

When you root for the Pac-10

Do you include rooting for UW? Or are they exempt from our Pac-10 aspirations?

by HitKing69 on Mar 21, 2009 3:07 PM PDT reply actions

they are exempt

The general rule I like to follow is:

I hope UW loses every game in every sport for the rest of eternity

As a rule, root for the Pac 10

But, rules are meant to be broken, right?

Are you a born-again Coug?

What kind of music did they play when the heavens opened for you?

by HitKing69 on Mar 21, 2009 3:12 PM PDT up reply actions

I've always been a true Coug though....

Just didn’t realize how deep the hate for the Crimson was from the Husky side of things until recently. I love saying, “Go Cougs” to other Cougs but I don’t like the rude comments out of pup fans in public places. Too much of it is mean-spirited. And I don’t like having my truck vandalized by pup fans either. Not necessary.

by SW WA Coug on Mar 21, 2009 3:35 PM PDT up reply actions

I heard the Cougar Fight Song

Of Course I was less than 4 minutes old

by HitKing69 on Mar 21, 2009 3:14 PM PDT up reply actions

It's my ringtone now

It annoys my Husky friend because I won’t answer the phone until the song is over

by SW WA Coug on Mar 21, 2009 3:15 PM PDT up reply actions

It probably annoys whoever calls you too

“man, why does this guy always let it ring 10 times before he picks up?”

by J.J. FeKl on Mar 21, 2009 3:16 PM PDT up reply actions

I only would do it to a Husky fan

But I do enjoy the song, puts me in a good mood

by SW WA Coug on Mar 21, 2009 3:32 PM PDT up reply actions

Off the side of the backboard. :-)

Purdue is hitting their shots

Which is exactly their game, the dub’s in trouble

by SW WA Coug on Mar 21, 2009 3:16 PM PDT reply actions

There's Brockman, grabbing the ball again

If I was Purdue’s coach, I’d tell the officials to put a stop to that NOW!

by SW WA Coug on Mar 21, 2009 3:26 PM PDT reply actions

The sad thing is...

the 7th place Pac10 team could’ve done what the first place Pac10 team did…

Beat MSU and lose to Purdue.

(Hell, we might’ve had the lead at SOME part of the game too) lol

by james_WSU on Mar 21, 2009 5:00 PM PDT reply actions

Does anyone else hate Chevy?

I’m so sick of these damn commercials. They are telling us to buy a car because a seven year old likes it. Also, a step on your truck which greatly improves safety is a reason NOT to buy their competitors truck. Safety isn’t manly. Screw safety. I already can’t stand Howie Long, and this makes is even worse.

Rant over.

I think he'll stop himself

I can’t believe he’ll shoot like this all game. He’ll get tired and start coming up short.

by 02Coug on Mar 21, 2009 5:55 PM PDT up reply actions

Wow that was a finish

The Western Kentucky coach was furious, I think he signalled for a timeout after the make and it wasn’t granted. Refs didn’t give them a chance.
