The wicked witch is dead
Few things are more rewarding than getting home from a Saturday of work, meant to support my WSU education, flip on the TV, and see Purdue drain the clinching free throw to beat the Huskies.
I know it's wrong to revel in the pain of others, but I can't help but root against UW every time I see them. I don't hate them - I have Huskies amongst my in-laws, my high school classmates, and they're all wonderful people. Most Huskies are.
But silencing that small few that do nothing but blindly hate WSU and come out of the woodwork only when the Dawgs are winning? Now that's satisfying.

Look what happens when Overton doesn't play with PX refs:
0 points
0 rebounds
0 assists
0 steals
1 turnover
4 fouls
Shocking. I am Shocked.
"Most Huskies" may be "Wonderful people"
But Most Huskies are also EXTREMELY annoying. If you don’t believe me just listen to Softy’s show on 950 KJR. It makes me want to throw up. The vocal majority of UW fans are pompous, annoying A-Holes. Not all of them, mind you, just the ones I personally know.
I was actually pulling for the mutt's
They put it together this year and I would have liked to see them get to the Sweet 16. The game today somewhat reminded me of WSU 3 years ago against Vandy.
Anyway, I’m not crying or anything but I found myself hoping they would advance. Especially for Brockman. He deserved it.
Go Cougs!
In the final analysis
I think the officials finally got annoyed with Venoy. He really cost them. Dentmon didn’t bring much at all today, one 3 was about it if I remember correctly. IT missed from point blank at the end. Brockman was a monster, kudos to him. He would’ve made a great Coug. They got beat up on the glass in the first half. Purdue didn’t back down at all and pushed it. Great coaching strategy, took it right at the pups. The stats were pretty even. Huskies had a ton of chances to tie it up or take a lead but just couldn’t get it done. All in all, a good game. You could sure tell the crowd was behind them. Was it fun Nuss?
Different game if Overton doesn't give Purdue 4 free points on idiotic fouls 35 feet from the basket
Give me Jorge Gutierrez every day of the week, thanks.
Many years from now, when his name's recalled
Everyone will say, "He should have passed the ball"
-- Al Stewart, "Football Hero"
It took four times before Venoy figured it out....
But in his post game comments he stated he knew they weren’t going to let him use his body like that after the first one. Not exactly a smart way to react to that information. He feeds off the crowd and they booed every one of those calls. In a big way, he just kept daring the officials to call a foul on him and they obliged.
I win either way....
If the mutts win the game, my bracket gets 2 more points. If they lose, oh well, nice season! UConn wins next round against either one anyway. Pups missed their chance for a 3peat.
I don't hate the Huskies the way most Cougars do.
I come from a UW family and grew up rooting for the Dawgs pretty passionately right up until I was 20 and transfere to Washington State (from Western). I immediately became a passionate Coug because, well, it was my school. There’s no more serious attachment than that in sports. But I’ve only slowly come around to taking some enjoyment in Huskies losses, and, for whatever reason, it’s mostly in basketball.
And this mostly comes from the fact that I actually hate trash talk and posturing on behalf of teams one doesn’t even play for. But since I’m a Cougar, that doesn’t stop the legion of people who have never even set foot of the UW campus from thinking I want to hear them badger me with how good their team is this year.
And it just occured to me moments ago what this loss means: the Cougars have still been to the Sweet 16 more recently than the Huskies.
So while I don’t exactly hate puple and gold, at the same time, that little bit of knowledge has me smiling as I go to bed.
