Bennett to Virginia?

Someone in Pullman tell me it is not true.  I am hoping this is a mistake, that it is Randy Bennett that is going there.  He turns down Indiana and Marquette, closer to home and LSU close to the in-laws for Virginia?  It just doesn't make any sense.  I am hoping it is false, but the Times has run with it so I don't know.  Do we hire from the staff to keep the continuity?  Ben Johnson, Woodley?  We saw how that worked out in football so I don't know.

If you could write a fanpost about that mess

that might be compelling stuff

This is where per game statistics go to die.

true

every paper in VA is reporting it. KJR in Seattle thought Ken Bone might be a good selection. I feel he couldnt turn down the chance to coach in the ACC no matter how bad VA is. Good luck Tony. Thanks for the memories.

referees?

easier recruiting, definitely in-state and probably more recruits around in general?

I guess

But unless you’re North Carolina or Duke, it’s not like being in that conference is somehow better than being in the Pac-10.

I agree

That’s what doesn’t make sense to me. Your going to a place where you have no recruiting ties, where some of the best teams in the country recruit (not just ACC, but Big East) and your going to be in a conference where you play Duke and NC every year and compete with them. Not to mention Wake Forest, BC, and increasingly FSU. I can see coaching in the ACC as a great opportunity, but taking a job at a low rung school in basketball just to get into the conference, I don’t know.

Gillespie? Few?

I doubt Mark Few would come, but then he would be in the Pac10. I am still pissed!!!
