Way, Prince, Johnson named to All-Pac-10 team
Congratulations to senior starter Matt Way, senior outfielder Jared Prince and junior closer Jeremy Johnson on their selection to the All-Pac-10 team today.
Way became one of the dominant pitchers in the conference, posting a 2.49 ERA and ridiculous 27.2 percent strikeout rate against just a 7.4 percent walk rate. Prince was the team's steadiest hitter, posting a .350/.432/.558 line -- .407/.477/.615 in conference games -- en route to the second highest OPS on the team. Johnson went 6-1 with nine saves in 26 appearances, posting a 2.83 ERA, 25.8 percent strikeout rate and absurdly low 4.7 percent walk rate.
Cougars selected as honorable mentions were sophomore pitcher Chad Arnold, senior catcher Alex Burg, freshman outfielder Derek Jones, senior catcher Greg Lagreid and sophomore shortstop Shea Vucinich.
