In a bit of odd news, it appears Aron Baynes will be starting his professional basketball career overseas with BC Lietuvos Rytas in Lithuania. It appears to be a two-year contract.

I say "appears" because there's more here, but I can't find a Lithuanian/English translator. If anyone else can, post a translated link for us in the comments.

Anyway, a little surprising Baynes didn't want to see if he could catch on somewhere in the NBA this summer and fall, but good on the big fella for continuing his career. He's joining a good team that has qualified for the first division Euroleague in the upcoming season.

EDIT, 9:19 a.m.: OK, I found a crappy translator. It appears he's agreed to the contract only if he's not offered a guaranteed contract by the NBA after the summer. He says he's looking at it as an opportunity to continue to develop for his ultimate goal, which is the NBA. By the way, bad translators are hilarious.

Frisbee fines?

would that be fines costing him frisbees, or fines for playing with one?

I'm pretty sure those are free throws

Not sure why field goals are called “colon” either …

I think this is my favorite line

“Win back the ball after 7.5 and 1.3 rivals Block Up.”

I think I’m going to start calling rebounds “win back the balls.”

"Will enter into force"

“I’m pleased with the level of command” Aron better be careful, he might be signing up for a stint in the Lithuanian military.

I never really liked the old tagline.

He's 208cm and that makes him sound really tall....

And 112.5 kilos in case you were wondering. Ya gotta love the metric system.

For anyone that interested in a really good article by ESPN writer Bill Simmons on NBA referees, this is a very good read, but very long also.

Everything Simmons writes is long

I think his stuff would be a lot more interesting if he would cut down on the words.

I never really liked the old tagline.

I had to set aside special time to allow me to finish it in one sitting....

He makes some really good point though, on subjects that we’ve discussed here a number of times. It’s worth the time if you can find it.
