ESPN article on Bone

While Nuss is posting articles about EA lawsuits, here is one about our Coach Bone from ESPN.  (Note: Nuss if you already beat me to it, I apologize profusely).

By the way, I will be attending the 7pm Coug game against the lowly Ducks of Oregon.  Looking forward to a series sweep.  We need it desperately!!!! Go Cougs!

I have to add this to get it up to 75 words after modifying it. Sorry. -- Nuss

You're right -- nothing earth shattering in there

But it was a nice story. So happy to read something on a national level that doesn’t just pander to the stereotypes of WSU and Pullman. It was interesting to hear his thoughts on recruiting the area. I’m working on a post about that, so there’s definitely some material in there I can use.

Ha!

You know, sometimes we have to work. :-) Thanks for posting that.

Good stuff

Has anyone said that Bone is a great fit for WSU? No? OK, I’ll be the first. Bone is a great fit. I hope he sticks around for 7+ years. Getting Moore is key and should help convince others from the I-5 corridor to give WSU a chance.

I'm curious as to why nobody has commented....

on the APR issues PSU basketball has to deal with now that happened under Bone’s watch. Is it anything to be overly concerned about?

I think Nuss may have mentioned this in another thread but I hope it has more to do with PSU being a commuter school and the type of student-athletes it attracts more than it has to do with Bone recruiting the wrong type kids. Maybe it’s a combination of the two. I just don’t want to deal with APR issues ever again, especially with what the football program has to suffer through right now that happened during the Doba era. Just saying….

Something to keep an eye on

I believe some of thier issue was with the number of transfer probably in to and out of PSU. That doesn’t excuse it all though. WSU has had a lot of transfers over the last 4 years and is well above the minimum.

I’m sure it is something Sterk has discussed with Bone. Academics has been a priority for each WSU athletic program. It better be for Sterk as well.

Suggestion...

You don’t have to of course, but maybe altering the opening line, “asleep at the wheel leader Nuss”, considering young Mackay. I couldn’t help but cringe a little bit…

Also

Obviously that was written prior to the accident, so I know it wasn’t intentional. Not that I even needed to clarify…

Yeah, someone sent me an e-mail about that today

I didn’t even think about it until now. I don’t really like deleting things, because I feel like it takes away from transparency, but I think this is a special circumstance, so I changed it. I wish it hadn’t even been a concern … :-(
