Brock Motum is good

Hey, it's not all about Klay and Casto in international competition. Checking in on the Under 19 Four Nations tournament in Melbourne, with Motum representing the Aussies:

  • Yesterday, vs. France: 20 points, 8/13 (0/1 3pt), 1 steal, 1 assist, 1 turnover, 3 rebounds in 21 minutes
  • Today, vs. Greece: 23 points, 10/12 (1/1 3pt), 2 assists, 2 steals, 0 turnovers, 10 rebounds in 21 minutes

I emboldened that last stat line, because my goodness.

Australia (the Emus, as they're known) won both games, 85-83 over France and 96-74 over Greece. 0-2 Spain is up next.

You can follow Motum on his player page. Hey, his "favourite" food is lasagna. That's crazy! And he's wearing Baynes' old number, 11, which I hope is a good omen.

In other big man news

Bjornstad took his official visit to WSU and enjoyed it, per Cougfan’s Howie Stalwick. Perhaps we’ve landed another big?

I'm starting to believe

We really could sneak into the tourney next year. We’ll have a ton of talent, just depends on how it meshes together in the new system. Either way, I’m getting my hopes up for a surprising year.

We could be pleasantly good

Or we could be just like 2005-06. I’m leaning toward the latter at the moment, although the downness of the conference as a whole gives me hope.

what's not tolike

about lasagna ???

dude has good taste – a choc malt, extra thick, from Ferds would top it off !

( note to thin types : how to put on some bulk and get your protein )

In the French player's defense

He was concentrating all his efforts fortifying the right side of the lane using poor and outdated technique because he had no idea a man the size of Brock Motum could force his way through the forest of players on the left side.

I never really liked the old tagline.
