Tim Floyd is out
So, let the speculation begin. If I had to guess, Tim knows what's coming and so does USC. With the investigation and all the allegations, I think USC may know the hammer is coming and are trying to save some face with Tim resigning. All in all this is bad news for USC, and in an indirect way for WSU, in the long run. I've got a feeling that the NCAA is nearing the end and bad things may be coming for USC soon.

Paul Westphal....
would be the perfect choice for this program. He’s currently an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks but I’d bet he’d be totally interested in this opportunity. Who else would even touch this job right now? This is the perfect chance for Westphal to get back into a head coaching gig. I think he’d be willing to lead his alma mater through the dark days ahead.
Building a program one-and-done kids just doesn’t work. USC should be able to do it with the mother lode of talent in California and the way they seem to attract talent throughout the rest of the country.
Garrett is going to eventually get canned because of all the current turmoil. No way he’s going to survive this messy situation with his top two programs, imho. Everybody’s just waiting for the hammer to fall.

Westphal just got hired by the Sacramento Kings
Now you know why guys ALWAYS take a head coach/manager job when they get the chance, no matter how bad the situation is — once you’re in, you’re in for life, no matter how bad you are. The guy failed as coach of the Sonics, failed as coach of Pepperdine … and he’s got another job. Geez.

I think I did my posts about the same time Westphal....
was taking the Sacto job. When I think of USC basketball, Paul Westphal comes to mind. Terrible coach, great player. He was on USC team that went 24-2 and didn’t earn a bid to the dance because the Pac-8 only sent one school to it in the early 70’s. Ucla was in the middle of 7 consecutive championships. I just thought he’d be able to keep the program together through the sanctions that are about to come down on USC.

Scott Wolf was on with Ian
Top candidate is Jamie Dixon of Pitt. Next two are Jeff Van Gundy and Reggie Theus. Then maybe Larry Eustachy as a long shot.
I did see Randy Bennett potentially on the list as well though. Wolf has said SC has wanted to get ride of Floyd for some time.

They've got their heads in the clouds if they think they can pry Dixon from Pitt
Van Gundy and Theus? Are they hoping to duplicate Pete Carroll? Although, to be fair, everyone panned the Carroll hire. Guess it turned out OK.

Not a chance at all of any of them, in my opinion
At least not this year. An established coach won’t want this for fear of being torpedoed later this year from the investigation. Think loss of scholarships and postseason bans. Randy Bennett may want it, but whoever takes this job has a heck of a rebuilding project on their hands.
