Pac-10 Media Day: Poll released, live video available
Today is that great overblown event called Pac-10 Media Day, and it's in full swing as we speak. The first piece of news to come out is the media poll, which is as follows:
|
1. |
USC (28) |
316 |
|
2. |
California (3) |
277 |
|
3. |
Oregon (1) |
250 |
|
4. |
Oregon State |
216 |
|
5. |
Arizona State |
155 |
|
6. |
Stanford |
150 |
|
7. |
UCLA |
145 |
|
8. |
Arizona |
142 |
|
9. |
Washington |
74 |
|
10. |
Washington State |
35 |
Predictable result for the Cougs, although you'll note that the 35 means that their selection to the spot was not unanimous. Surprised Oregon got a vote for first, but here's one thing to keep in mind: The fans generally take this a lot more seriously than the writers who do the voiting.
You also can find live video of the interviews (complete with a schedule) here, if you're interested enough to sit around all day and watch. Paul Wulff and Kenny Alfred have already come and gone; I'll pass along their thoughts when I see them (probably via SportsLink.) Their video is also supposed to be archived on that site at some point.
Also, Ted Miller is posting quick thoughts as each team hits the stage at his blog.
EDIT, 4:55 p.m.: Here is Sir Vincent's writeup on the day.

zzzzzzzz
These polls always make me so bored. Just when I get excited for pac-10 football, I see these polls. USC ranked first. . .zzzzzzzzz. . .Oregon and Cal battle for second. . .zzzzzzzzz. no one knows where to rank OSU, ASU, UA, Stan, and UCLA. . .zzzzzzzzz. Everyone is excited for Washington’s potential. . .zzzzzzzzzzzz. . . and WSU is still at the bottom (ugh). As much as I want to find any excuse to talk about college football, the media makes me more eager than ever to have the season start and leave these ridiculous polls in the past.
Tony Bennett probably likes them.
They made him millions of dollars.
I never really liked the old tagline.

hmm
unfortunately for the cougs — that is how I see it too. Except I don’t think Arizona State will be that good. I predict you a switch of Arizona and Arizona St.
