Wow

I liked Watson without knowing his back story, but I love him after hearing about all he’s gone through. He’s taken the tough path to Washington State and I’ll be rooting for him to succeed.

I’m glad he’s gotten the medical issues cleared up, too. It always seemed like there was something going on there and they were being very cautious with him in the offseason and early season. Now we know why.

Terrific piece by Grippi, yet again.

Very, Very special

It’s one of those stories that makes you think there is a good side to college athletics, especially during week when some of the bad sides have been so heavily in the news. But it’s not all money, boosters, and chasing fame. It’s also kids really changing their own lives and doing things they never thought they could.

I will say that Tony did recruit some players with interesting backgrounds

Watson grew up in a broken home adopted by a Caucasian family. Casto watches his father get murdered and is later adopted by a Caucasian family. Koprivica grows up in the middle of a war with bombs going off daily around him.

On the other side, a former WSU player grows up in a family worth a little shy of a half of a billion dollars.

Some very interesting stories behind the players.

Just a guess,

But think about who’s family seemed to be at every game, home or away, last year.

Being able to afford roughly $30,000, and having the means to go to many games is quite a bit different than having $500 million in the bank. But who knows, maybe they were that wealthy. I had just never heard that before.

Amazing story

There are so many great stories on this team, from Watson, to Casto to Nik, just makes you see how amazing and truly special this team can be.

Also gives you plenty of ammunition when people try to point out all the things wrong with college athletics

There are plenty of things wrong, but to paint it all with a broad brush is a mistake. For every kid who gets arrested, there are 100 taking advantage of an opportunity not afforded the rest of us.
