Jamal Atofau, Andre Barrington Arrested In Marijuana Bust
I'm so incredibly mad and disappointed right now that I don't have much to say. Jamal Atofau and Andre Barrington were among four people, all sharing the same apartment, arrested in a marijuana bust in Pullman according to KXLY. This wasn't a small drug bust by any means. Police found 38 plants in the basement of the apartment Barrington, Atofau and two others shared.
All four residents of the apartment were arrested including 20-year-old WSU student Bailey Woods, 20-year-old Zachary Uttech, and WSU Cougar backup linebacker Jamal Atafau and Safety Andre Barrington.
Cougar Athletics Sports Information Director Bill Stevens says that Atafau has been suspended from the team whil Barrington has not practiced with the team all season due to academic ineligibility.
Cougfan.com also picked up the report (H/T RoyWeaverStuckey)
This is just frustrating, to say the least. Atofau has played a big role on special teams and was earning more time at SAM this year. Barrington, who showed plenty of promise in camp, couldn't get his grades in order and was ruled out for the year.
For Atofau, this is arrest number three in his two years at Washington State. In 2009, he was arrested for being a minor exhibiting signs of alcohol consumption. Later that year, he was arrested for fourth-degree assault stemming from a late-night argument. He was later acquitted of the assault charge.
UPDATE: More from Grippi because I missed his post the first time I ran through and checked.
Police came to the home at 1745 NE Lower Drive, just north of Beasley Coliseum to serve an unrelated search warrant, according to police spokesman Cmdr. Chris Tennant.
While conducting that search, Tennant said, they discovered the marijuana plants growing in a basement room. They obtained a drug-related warrant, searched the room, found plants, manufacturing equipment and paraphernalia. The four residents, including the two football players, were arrested.
More as it comes later.

no college football team is ever going to be done with young kids being stupid
at least this isn’t anything violent.
twitter.com/b_dids Here, I am batman.
Well this sucks.
Even if they weren’t involved at all, living in a house where 38 marijuana plants are being grown is stupid decision.

38 plants is a lot. If it was just those 2 kids caught with that many plants I bet their names would still be in the spokesman review
It's a Casio on a plastic beach

It's public record and is also listed on the Pullman PD website
The excerpt came straight from the KXLY report. The fact that two were football players is a big deal, but 38 plants is also a big deal in its own right.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh fuuuuuuuuudddddddddggggggge

Not that I want to see us win a Fulmer cup. D-U-M-M Dumb.

Idiots
More reason though why this should all just be legal….who isn’t growing, smoking or dealing nowadays it seems from the grandma next door to the mom with teenage kids to the teenage kids themselves.

Whether it should or shouldn't...
doesn’t make this situation (if true) any less stupid. Especially for two guys who were already on thin ice as is.
The K is special
And even if it was legal
Football players shouldn’t be around a drug like that, which while possibly not that harmful in many ways is still smoking and affects lung capacity.
Overall, athletes just need to have some common sense and know that nothing good comes from being around drugs and alcohol, especially in season. But, kids are kids, and kids will do the darndest things.
Unfortunately
Some kids only stop being kids when they realize the consequences of their actions.
The K is special
while i'll always take the side of an athlete when they get caught with pot
because you’re right, it IS a stupid law….
getting caught with 38 growers in your house is hardly the same as getting caught with an eighth in your glove box.
