Another testament to our Kickoff coverage

This week in Brian Fremeau's discussion of FEI (sort of like DVOA for college FB), there was a table of an interesting statistic: Yard per Touchdown Drive for both offense and defense. Washington State's defense is 6th in the nation in terms of length of TD drive given up by the defense, making teams drive an average of 72 yards during non-garbage time in FBS games. Now, we also have allowed far more TDs than any other team on that list (27) so I think the obvious implication is this: Our kickoff coverage pins opponents deep, forcing them to drive nearly 3/4s the length of the field for each TD. The downside is that opponents have been able to do that with frightening (or perhaps expected) regularity.
