I like beer, but I LOVE whiskey.  So I figured after, what, four beer threads, not including posts that turned into beer threads, I'd start one for booze.

Personal favorites:

Whiskey - Bushmills is a timeless classic, Bulleit is a new favorite.  Maker's Mark is always a winner as well.  All three are good on the rocks or with a splash of water.  If you're looking for something to mix, Fighting Cock (103 proof) is good stuff.

Vodka - My wife's new favorite is Crater Lake.  Comes in a frosted bottle with a cork, and they're each batch numbered by hand.  It's only about $20 per fifth, and it's really great vodka.  You can't taste it at all.  Crater Lake also makes a Juniper Gin that's great, but I've only found it in samplers (airplane bottles).

Those are the two staples at our house.  I stick to the straight stuff, Mrs. Right likes Martinis.  I can share recipes if anyone wants (or you can).
