Cool
I am going to be watching this, I want to see if this basically turns out to be his introduction as AD.
It is interesting to actually see this conducted all out in the open…….if this doesn’t say how much WSU wants Moos, I don’t know what does.
GO COUGS!!!
I would love for this to turn in to his introduction as an AD
This is a gutsy thing to have. An open to the public forum meeting with a guy who isn’t even hired… Things will really be ugly if he doesn’t become our AD.

Which is why it seems like a done deal
You just don’t see presidents come out and do things like this for risk of being burned
Even the way they have the podium and everything set up
it looks like an introduction

which would be good, show they want Moos

Should we remind everyone....
Of the video of the Memphis door during the Calipari in limbo period. Or the fax machine live feed on signing day (can’t remember the school).
we fans are crazy
we will watch paint dry if it will help our school

I am loving this
HIRE THE MAN RIGHT NOW!!!!
Floyd just walk up there and say “they jobs yours, whatever you want to be paid, you go it.”
by spokanecougar on Feb 17, 2010 3:19 PM PST up reply actions
He's been up there gushing about the job
“If I’m fortunate enough to be named the athletic director”. He loves WSU
"I've been to Maine, Spain, and Spokaine"
“And this is a beautiful campus and you can win here. My hunting partner Bobo Brayton did it.”
“We need to make this place a destination and not a stepping stone.”
“The coach of the University of Virginia should want to be the coach of Washington State”
HIRE HIM. HIRE HIM RIGHT NOW
Build this man a statue

Best Quote Ever!!!
“The coach of the University of Virginia should want to be the coach of Washington State.”
I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. Ugh
I was skeptical,
but I want this guy in Pullman right now.

"I'm here to see if we can get it done, I can tell you right now we can get it done"
He’s saying what we knew, that he was going to be a consultant to raise money before this went down, as well.
"Oregon didn't want to compete with me, and I don't blame them"
Love the swagger.

Keep the comments coming, all!
I can’t get the live feed at work (doggone IT), so I’m getting the gist through your comments. Please, keep up the good work!
"This job would get the juices going"
Old timer in the back: “Bill it’s an honor that you’re here”. He’s basically talking to old friends
It's about building the base of the pyramid in fundraising
Feed the base and work from the bottom of that pyramid and never desert your base and move them up the pyramid when you can
Use supply and demand
Convince people to buy in to the product and then make them want to buy in. It all starts with the product on the field.
Talking about gameday and the cougar flag
"I want to give a scholarship to the guy that flies that flag at gameday"
“If I don’t get this job, I may take that one.”

Telling the story about using Harrington's ad in New York
Just to generate PR and get people talking
He knows what he is talking about
We need this guy, he is amazing and he loves this school, he knows everything and everyone connected with WSU.
So do I...
In my neck of the woods (Portland/Vancouver), there are a TON of Duck fans saying that we’d be lucky to get Moos…frankly, some of them said that they’d be a bit worried if we do…

absolutely a class guy
Get to talk to him and his wife at work… wonderful people.

It kinda sounds like the school is selling itself to Moos
more than the other way around.
Thats what I thought
But then he mentioned him among famous alumni and made me think it was someone else……Steve Gleason?
by spokanecougar on Feb 17, 2010 3:54 PM PST up reply actions
Confusing Chad Eaton for Steve Gleason makes me laugh
I understand how it happened, but can you imagine if the two of them were standing next to each other?
I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. Ugh
He is not afraid of the job.
Talking about increasing the budget, comparing WSU to USC…
No excuses from this guy.
Yea they are
and they want him, so it will happen

talking about getting people to drive from Spokane to Pullman
says its a shorter, nicer drive than Portland to Eugene.
DAMNIT BILL DONT BRING THAT UP
Not the end of that Oregon game from a couple years ago. I hate Leunnen
How to recruit
Kids didn’t want to Oregon before. Comes down to facilities, what can make them better to achieve their goals, and academics.
Hire him.
Right now. He’s good, he won’t leave, and he wants to be here.
Man I am a dead broke grad-student
But if Moos becomes our AD, I will be donating some cash to our athletic department real soon
by Roy Weaver Stuckey on Feb 17, 2010 4:05 PM PST reply actions
Yeah, I'm on that 'recent grads' list too.
I’d donate if I had anything to donate.

It will take some time
But how can you not think WSU is headed for success under Moos. Just feels like an aura about him that people are drawn to. Lets close this thing up and get those contributions rolling in.
That was very good
I think without a doubt he will be the next AD. I also now believe we are going to see our athletic teams taken to a level we have never even dreamed of. HE IS PERFECT!!!!
And he'll feed the hungry, and shelter the homeless, and cure the sick!
just jokes, but his enthusiasm is really powerful

He basically said he has a plan for creating Oregon-like success at Wazzu.
And he wants it to happen regardless of his getting the job.
by displacedcoug on Feb 17, 2010 4:35 PM PST up reply actions
He was already going to be a consultant for fundraising
Now he has the chance to run it all.
His wife wants him to take it, we want him to take it, he wants to take it, and Bobo wants him to take it, damnit!
Moo for Moos! The Washington State cash cow.

I have all this excitement, but
there is that little pessimist in the back of my head reminding me of things that seem perfect on the outside…

I thought watching Wulff's no huddle offense would be awesome when they first hired him.
Needless to say I was a little disappointed.
WSU has never hired someone with these kind of credentials
The closest anyone comes close to this would be when Dick Bennett was hired and even he hasn’t accomplished what Bill Moos has. When you have the chance to hire someone like this you take it.

Just trying to be cautiously optimistic
rather than fanatically optimistic.

Jim Tressel
proven track record was Youngstown State before he became Ohio State’s head coach. I don’t care what offense you run if you don’t have the athletes to do it. The players believe in Wulff the way we believe in Moos.
by Cougars Hunt and Kill on Feb 17, 2010 8:03 PM PST up reply actions
Tressel also had prior BCS coaching
Well at the time it was D-1, but he was a coach at Ohio State and Syracuse before he went to Youngstown State. Just to let you know there is a difference, Wulff never has coached at D-1 or the BCS level before WSU.
by spokanecougar on Feb 17, 2010 8:11 PM PST up reply actions
Assistant coaching at the BCS level
is much different than being the head man. From what I see he was never more than a position coach. It’s not like he was a defensive or offensive coordinator at these places. How would being a QB coach at Ohio State and Syracuse give you any more of a proven track record as a head coach?
