NATIONAL LOI SIGNING DAY 2010: Washington State University open thread

Welcome to Signing Day 2010 at CougCenter! This is your one-stop shop for everything related to Washington State University's 2010 football recruiting class.

Immediately below this, you'll find our Cover It Live news stream, where we'll be passing along news as it breaks. The beauty of it, of course, is that you never have to refresh the page to get new news -- it's live updating. That feature will be limited to updates by myself, Craig and Grady as we scour the web for information, but if you have a specific question, you can submit it there -- we'll answer them as time and our relative expertise allows. Cover it Live also has some cool features with polls and such, so be on the lookout for that stuff throughout the day.

After the jump, we've got a massive table in which we've compiled everything we could find on each verbal commit. That's your resource for rankings, evaluations and video. As the day goes on, we'll change each guy's LOI status. (Many thanks to Tomahawk Nation for doing the heavy lifting with the HTML.)

And then, of course, the best part for you -- the comment area. Talk away. (By the way, if you haven't been using the comment hot keys to scroll through the comments, I suggest you learn them -- like pressing "Z" to scroll to the next comment, or "Shift-A" to clear all the unread comments if you've been away for a while and don't want to catch up. It'll be a godsend today with all the comments we'll be getting.)

Also, be sure to follow all of the days news around the country at SBNation's story stream on the main site. Everything that's of interest from around the country will be gathered there.

When the dust settles this evening, we'll have a recap post on the rankings at the end of the day, as well as pull together all the commentary we can find on the Cougs' recruiting class. Enjoy!

WSU's Verbal Commitments

In order of commit

Aaron Dunn (Mead H.S./Spokane, Wash)
689285_medium

Position: Tight End

Measurables: 6-6.5/235/4.79

Videos: (1)

Evaluation Links/Rankings:
- Rivals: None (3*)
- Scout: #9 TE (4*)
- ESPN: #34 TE (75)

LOI in? YES

Notes:
Was also offered by Cal.  Scout says, "Dunn is the best tight end prospect in the Northwest, but was on a team that didn't throw the ball that much. So he became a stellar blocker as a senior." He could potentially shift inside to the line.

John Fullington (North Mason Options H.S./Belfair, Wash.)
643172_medium

Position: Offensive Tackle

Measurables: 6-6/270

Videos: N/A

Evaluation Links/Rankings:
- Rivals: #70 OT (3*)
- Scout: #54 OT (3*)
- ESPN: Not evaluated

LOI in? YES

Notes:
Good size with room to grow.  With the guys returning and a few JC's already on campus, he should get a year to bulk up before being thrown into the mix.

Jake Rodgers (Shadle Park H.S./Spokane, Wash.)
684323_medium

Position: Tight End

Measurables: 6-7/245

Videos: None free

Evaluation Links/Rankings:
- Rivals: No Ranking (2*)
- Scout: #37 TE (3*)
- ESPN: #43 TE (75)

LOI in?  YES

Notes:
Another Spokane tight end who could potentially move inside.  Reports suggest that he may not have the speed to play tight end in college.  Look for him to move over to the defensive line in the future.

Matt Simmons (Bishop Montgomery H.S./Torrance, Calif.)

Position: Cornerback

Evaluation Links/Rankings:
- Rivals: None, 3*
- Scout: #106 CB (3*)
- ESPN: Not evaluated.

LOI in? YES

Notes:

Matt is fundamentally sound and has good footwork.   He could also switch to a safety position as the Cougs have three other CB commits in this class.  Matt is the son of former Cougar Randal Simmons.

Damante Horton (Oakland Senior H.S./Oakland, Calif.)

LOI in? YES

Notes: A good first step and appears to be a solid tackler, which is a huge bonus at the corner position.  Chose WSU over an offer from Arizona State.

Connor Halliday (Joel E. Ferris H.S./Spokane, Wash.)

LOI in? YES

Notes:  Could be a running back or cornerback at the next level.  Our guess and hope would be to put him on the defensive side, where we have been sorely lacking speed the last few years.  Chose WSU over an offer from Colorado.

Blair Bomber (Lynden H.S./Lynden, Wash.)
693516_medium

Position: Wide Receiver

Measurables: 5-9/165/4.40

- ESPN: #160 WR (74, 2*)

LOI in? YES

Notes:
Hooray speed!  Undersized for the wideout position, but if a guy can catch the ball and is athletic sometimes it can still work (see James Rodgers, OSU).  With that speed there is still the possibility who switches over to the other side of the ball.

Deone Bucannon (Vanden H.S./Fairfield, Calf.)

LOI in? YES

Notes:
Why yes, we do need help in the defensive backfield. Enter the Bu-CANNON (already nicknamed!), who is quick to the ball, changes direction on a dime and projects well as a strong safety.

Tyrone Duckett (Encinal H.S./Alameda, Calif.)
  20091211__ecct1212mcenc_1_viewer_medium

Position: Safety

Measurables: 6-0.5/200

Rankings:
- Rivals: unrated ATH (3*)
- Scout: #110 S (2*)
- ESPN: #100 S (75)

LOI in? YES

Notes:

A two-way player who may solve the pesky issue of what happens if (when?) all our quarterbacks get injured. Still, he's far more likely to appear at defensive back than quarterback. Possibly even a running back, given the difficulties people had tackling him at the high school level. Duckett will be one of the more interesting athletes to watch develop out of this class.

Bobby Ratliff (Etiwanda H.S./Etiwanda, Calif.)

Position: Wide receiver

Measurables: 6-1/180

Ratliff's CougCenter.com "Coug Commit" Feature

Notes:

Hailing from marching band powerhouse Etiwanda (CA) (not making that up), Ratliff is the rare guy the recruiting services actually agree upon. He's just a solid wideout, with the ability to gain some serious YAC in addition to his good hands.

Tracy Clark (Pittsburg H.S./Pittsburg, Calif.)

Position: Defensive Back

Measurables:5-10/175/4.55

Clark's CougCenter.com "Coug Commit" Feature

Notes:

Good corner/safety prospect, but as you may be able to guess from his measurables, Paul Wulff will have him hitting the weight room ASAP. Once he gets there, his speed and agility should prove to be a boost to the Cougar pass defense.

Robert Jiles (Pittsburg H.S./Pittsburg, Calif.)

Notes:

Tracy Clark's teammate at Pittsburgh (CA), Jiles is a crafty WR who can avoid tackles. He gets high marks from the recruiting services as a guy who can make plays from the slot, given his speed and elusiveness. More here.

Marquess Wilson (Tulare Union H.S./Tulare, Calif.)

Wilson's CougCenter.com "Coug Commit" Feature

Notes:

Wulff is really trying to bolster the receiving corps, and Wilson is a tall, athletic wideout. What he lacks in speed, he makes up for in leaping ability - he's a good bet to catch any jump ball thrown at him. The services seem to disagree on whether or not he's going to be an impact player.

Eric Oertel (Lutheran H.S./Racine, Wis.)
Oertel_medium

Position:?

Measurables: 6-1/185

LOI in? YES

Oertel's CougCenter.com Coug Commit Feature

Notes:
WHAT IS HE GOING TO PLAY? The recruiting services can't decide if he's a linebacker or running back. Either way, Oertel is a kid with a great work ethic who should be successful wherever he ends up. Also, he's from Wisconsin, and anything that allows you to be put in a category with Kyle Weaver is a plus on my list. Nuss made a good comparison to Louis Bland, a former 2-star running back who turned out to be a stud linebacker.

Rickey Galvin (Berkeley H.S./Berkeley, Calif.)

Notes:
Comparisons to Jacquizz Rodgers aren't that far fetched. He's an undersized burner, but he's also tough and strong. He's one of the guys who could make an immediate impact next year as a returner.

David Gonzales (Fresno City College/Fresno, Calif.)

Fills a HUGE need on the offensive line. With as many injuries as the unit has suffered, the team can never have enough bodies. But he should prove to be more than a body; he might compete for a starting spot right away.

From ESPN: "Williams is a versatile football player that displays very solid receiving and running skills. Tall and slender athlete with good quickness and speed. Seems to be more of an offensive player and return specialist than a defensive back."

Kalafitoni Pole (James Logan H.S./Union City, Calif.)

For some reason, Pole flew under the radar. He didn't really start to catch eyes until late in his senior year, but it seems the Cougs might have gotten a steal. As Scout.com said: "As he becomes more technically sound, the sky is the limit."

Devontae Butler (Grant H.S./Sacramento, Calif.)

Notes:
A late commit -- Tuesday, in fact. According to a Sacramento-area blog: "Butler rushed for 2,884 yards and 45 touchdowns last fall, despite sitting out the second half of five games due to blowouts." Academics are mentioned in the report. Smells like a grayshirt to us.

C.J. Mizell (Leon H.S./Tallahassee, Fla.)

Videos:

Rankings (2009):
- Rivals: #19 LB (4*)
- Scout: #5 LB (4*)
- ESPN: #29 LB (79, 3*)

LOI in? YES

Notes:
The shocker of the day. If this signing had been last year, he would have been considered the jewel of the class, a celebrated centerpiece of Wulff's rebuilding process. However, a year ago he was headed to FSU. Academic issues conspired to keep him out, and he was presumed to be heading there this year ... until Bobby Bowden was forced out. He basically fell into the Cougs' lap and Wulff closed the deal. Simply outstanding. Go to his rankings pages and read up on the scouting reports. If his academics are squared away, he more than makes up for the loss of Cleveland.

I saw that Josh Rasmussen wrote on Asante’s facebook saying that he was very disappointed in Asante for changing his mind :(

I just browsed his wall

Facebook and Twitter

The downfall of all athletes and the best way to be taken out of context.

For instance:

C.J. Mizell?

Didn’t qualify at Florida State last year, but I know that he was in Pullman last weekend. Anyone heard if he’s in the mix to come in this year? Looks like a stud.

Yes

A friend saw him and some of the coaches together at the airport in Lewiston. And now he’s mentioned in the link below. Could be an interesting development…

Very interesting...

Some run ins with the law and poor grades, but was a top 5 LB in the country…hopefully he’s turned it around if he’s headed this way. We could certainly use talent like that.

I hope he comes...

just so I can say “For Shizell My Mizell!”

The U Documentary

Didn’t you watch “The U” documentary on ESPN. They must have offered him a Range Rover over our John Deer or Subaru.

Asante not showing as signed LOI on Miami's Scouts page as of 3 or 4 minutes ago?

Is there another source that definitely says his fax has arrived into Miami’s hands?

by LeaveItToWeaver on Feb 3, 2010 8:49 AM PST reply actions

No, some people on the canes board were saying he hasn't signed

But I’m not buying it. Probably just a little lag between Cali and Florida.

by MattPD on Feb 3, 2010 8:51 AM PST up reply actions

I do find it slightly funny how "into it" we all get

I’m right along with you guys, but every once in a while I catch myself in a self-awareness moment, thinking “man who am I, a 25 year old, six foot tall, can’t-bench-to-save-his-life guy, thinking that this 6-6 270 18 year old needs to bulk up?”

Football is just a different world. And I love it.

I a most interested in the bubble guys that were deciding today

So we lost Cleveland and Mahoney? Any word from Dargon or any of the other bubble guys?

by spencer peaty on Feb 3, 2010 10:22 AM PST reply actions

Nothing on Dargan

Still an Oregon lean from all indications by anything can happen

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 10:26 AM PST up reply actions

I heard Dargan is announcing at 3pm

Not sure how accurate that is. Probably irrelevant though as 2 of his teammates already signed with us this morning and Dargan chose to delay his announcement. Coincide that with Oregon’s decision to not announce LOI until after 1pm and you can conclude that Dargan is going to Oregon.

by MattPD on Feb 3, 2010 10:27 AM PST up reply actions

Not a final indication but not promising either...

I submitted this question above, but who had committed to us but signed elsewhere today besides Cleveland? My quick math makes me think we are missing another guy.

by spencer peaty on Feb 3, 2010 10:28 AM PST up reply actions

Yeah, Dion Groggins is the other guy who didn't commit

He is another JC DT that chose Syracuse over us and others.

by MattPD on Feb 3, 2010 10:32 AM PST up reply actions

He never committed to us

And he chose this morning or last night

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 10:34 AM PST up reply actions

Must have been late last night because I saw that before I went to bed

I think I was wrong though, I see 21 guys are our list, we had 22 yesterday (minus Cleveland). So, if we are looking at 25, who else we banking on? Dargon looks gone, Devontae Butler-Booker? Who else should I be looking at?

by spencer peaty on Feb 3, 2010 10:38 AM PST up reply actions

Remember we had late enrolls

Buckley would count against this class, as would Thompson. So with no greyshirts we’re looking at 23 for this class. I see 21 on the scout list after Cleveland was dropped

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 10:40 AM PST up reply actions

Ok

What about Rankin, last years or this class?

by spencer peaty on Feb 3, 2010 10:42 AM PST up reply actions

Last years

He’s enrolled in school so he counts against last years. Since we’re a semester, we get screwed with early enrolls but if you’re in by semester you count against the previous year

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 10:43 AM PST up reply actions

This, by the way, is how UW can sign 30+

And enroll some of them in their spring quarter. It’s easier for a HS kid to graduate by March then it is by December, which sucks for semester schools.

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 10:45 AM PST up reply actions

I agree

Why do you think they need to do away with it?

I don’t like that it favors quarter schools and adds an extra half year of eligibility and practice times for the select few that use it. It also creates fuzzy math with recruiting classes and is a nice loophole to use

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 11:01 AM PST up reply actions

There can be undue pressure placed on high school kids to enroll early

Kids should be able to enjoy the end of their high school career. The real world comes soon enough.

by Jeff Nusser on Feb 3, 2010 6:28 PM PST up reply actions

Oh definitely

Some of the best times are those last few months of high school. It seems like something a kid would regret missing just to get some spring practice time in and take a few entry level classes

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 6:42 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

admission standards arent much difference

The comment was more based on early enrolls by hs kids, which we can’t really pull as a semester school. Its not a knock on uw just explaining how they can fit a class that big

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 3:57 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

Devontae Butler-Booker already signed his LOI

So he’s in. Other than that there aren’t a ton of offers on the table that we know about. They could nab some kids we didn’t even know they offered, but as of now there isn’t much other info out there.

Oregon's announcing whenever they get all their expected LOIs

And they’re killing it right now. Picked up a kid they thought they had no shot at a half hour ago

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 10:28 AM PST up reply actions

Nothing is for sure though, just my interpretation

Also there were rumblings that we might get C.J. Mizell, an FSU commit who didn’t make the grades. Apparently had some off the field issues too, but a couple people reported he was in Pullman visiting the coaches. No word on an offer, but Scout.com had him as the #5 OLB last year in the entire nation. Might be worth the risk..

by hollyweirdcoug on Feb 3, 2010 10:28 AM PST reply actions

The 25/85 rule

25 for each class, 85 total on scholarship. UW had a small class last year, so they are early enrolling some guys this year to count against it. Attrition takes care of the 85 total usually

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 10:30 AM PST reply actions

Funny thought I had about that.

There was a ton of speculation that the Seahawks were going to hire DeWayne Walker (NMSU Head Coach) as their new D coordinator under Pete Carroll. He ultimately didn’t come and may have cost us a JC DT!! Haha owell.

Simmons Safety

I think Simmons will find his way to safety, because according to scout.com he doesn’t have good closing speed. Plus, he is already 185 lbs…that is a pretty good size already for a CB. After getting in the system he could bulk up to 200 lbs or more and play safety.

One of the things to keep in mind,

is perspective. Marcus Trufant wasn’t a 5 star recruit. He actually wanted to go to UW, but they didn’t recruit him. Will Derting was a 1-star and wasn’t covered because he didn’t even have a phone. Jason Hill was a 2-star nobody out of San Francisco. Guys like Scott Davis and Mkristo Bruce were RB’s in HS and changed positions. Just because we’re not getting the “big name guys” doesn’t mean we aren’t getting good players. A great player in a bad system flounders. An average-to-slightly above average guy in the right system can flourish.

Wulff is getting guys he sees fitting in his system, and has gotten a lot more guys to commit than I thought he would after winning 3 games in 2 years.

(Not that anyone here is downplaying our recruiting class, but just something to think about in general to get some perspective. I was texting all of my friends when we got Randy Estes and Arkelon Hall. So, yeah, there’s that.)

I met him at a party.

He had a walking boot on his foot and wanted everyone to feel sorry for him. It sort of rubbed me the wrong way, but I was convinced he’d be the next great Coug QB.

I also thought Swogger was going to be amazing after watching him tear up ASU, so, um, perhaps I should just stop anointing guys as the ‘next best thing’.

Arkelon Hall’s failure at Wazzu is totally my fault. Kyle fail.

I met his dad at a Bellevue vs De LaSalle (I think) HS football game at Quest

by Wazzu Willy on Feb 3, 2010 10:52 AM PST up reply actions

Yeah I think cougar fans understand that better than most

We have made a living off of getting the most out of players nobody wanted. That said, I’m really excited about this years talent pool. We got players at every position and got some much needed speed and play making ability. Even with the loss of Cleveland, Mahoney, and most likely Dargan, it should be a great class to build on.

by MattPD on Feb 3, 2010 10:51 AM PST up reply actions

What I like is the fact that most of these guys were rising toward the end

You’ll sometimes see that kind of inflation with guys at other schools, because if USC is recruiting him … well … he must be awesome, right? But for that to happen to our guys I think says something about the staff’s ability to evaluate talent.

I saw Buchannon

and he is a real solid hitter. This guy just looks like a safety out there. Roaming and filing and hitting. Also Golden has blinding speed. In the game I saw he was so much faster than the rest of the guys. And it was two decent HS teams… he is a good RB on top of blanketing the WR’s with his wheels. This group has a ton of two sport athletes with solid frames- i agree w/ playerkyle, no way to know where some of them end up on the field, but great to have options.

Consider me stuck in the "denial" stage...

but Miami’s official site has 20 non-early enrollees with signed LOIs, yet Asante is not one of those 20. Their most recent LOI was 9:50am, but I’m guess that is Eastern Time. They have been updating it frequently, but maybe their web guys just can’t keep up with all the late Miami LOIs that are flowing in (sarcasm? yes)…. Or Asante has been too busy with announcing his decision to actually send his paperwork in?… Just weird that the Sac papers have mentioned him talking to Wulff about the decision, yet nobody has confirmed that Miami has received the paperwork.

If Miami greyshirts him, we could always just continue to recruit him like Neuweisel did with Bonnell, right? ;-).

From Cougfan:

It looks like Washington State has pretty much wrapped things up. Erick Dargan has signed with Oregon according to sources, and another source has told CF.C Maxx Forde has decided the WAC is a better fit for him and has signed with Idaho. Barring something unforeseen later today, CF.C is projecting the Cougs will look to fill a couple spots if the available talent is there over the remainder of the Signing Period, which runs through April 1

Didn't Cleveland tell other recruits to stick to WSU?

When they were being recruited by other schools and then he goes and changes schools? He might be a good football player, but sounds like the type of kid we are probably better without if you agree with Wulff who says he is trying to build the team with people who have a good head on their shoulders as well as being good athletes.

by spokanecougar on Feb 3, 2010 12:31 PM PST reply actions

Yes, it is kind of hypocritical of him, but I don't blame him

At the very least he prevented other players from doing the same thing. Maybe not intentionally, but his heart was in the right place. Kids change their mind and Miami is a big time program. He’ll do well there, but yeah he did tell other commits not to visit. Specifically I think it was Bucannon who was interested in visiting ASU

by MattPD on Feb 3, 2010 12:53 PM PST up reply actions

Raz on Mizell

Rich Rasmussen: Brett, honestly we just became aware of CJ about 10 days ago through a phone call made by a former player. He committed to Florida State at this time a year ago; however, he did not qualify initially with the NCAA. He has since completed the necessary requirements and is eligible. A year ago at this time he had offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and South Carolina to name a few. We know that there may be some questions regarding his background and history; however, we have thoroughly investigated this and could not find a person who had a bad thing to say about him. We believe that he is going to have an opportunity to succeed in our environment because we are going to surround him with high-character individuals. That was something he embraced when he came on campus and during his recruitment.

It's hard to turn down Miami

But in no way should they be firing off pot shots at blog posters and fans as coaches.

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 2:30 PM PST up reply actions

one constant

that I keep hearing from folks at WSU and from a few of the kids themselves regarding the recruiting from WAZZU and the staff was that they wanted to be a part of the rebuild. They know the program was down from a few attrition laden recruiting classes; and completley bought into the idea of being a part of the resurrection. I know some fans view that as an “excuse by coaches”, but, I personally feel like it is simply a cold reality that we as fans have witnessed first hand. Wulff’’s 1st two ‘true’ sets of recruits (excluding the ‘08 5 weeks to grab them crop) are quite good by WSU standards. I maintain that you can’t teach size and experience, those are hard earned. The dearth of upper class players of quality was real- it is still a very young team- but these classes have consistent sense of faith in the coaches and the teammates that I like. I wish Cleveland well- but Dunn is better. This is a great class. Go Cougs

If you can't Go Cougs... don't go.

by hollyweirdcoug on Feb 3, 2010 2:32 PM PST up reply actions

That is two different things

Talking about a rebuild is a “Sales Feature.” A “Benefit” being part of a rebuild is early playing time. That is a classic sales process. Heck, after the first Rose Bowl the team went into the tank, I am sure that Mike Price used rebuild as a sales feature as well. Selling a rebuild to recruits is not the same thing as blaming blogs for losing a recruit.

A recruit has never ever changed schools because of a blog. Cleveland may even have said that, but it is not the real reason.

by Coug1990 on Feb 3, 2010 4:40 PM PST up reply actions

Yep and from what I have been able to read, his dad really wanted him to go to Miami.

It really is hard going against your dad if he is lobbying for another school and you need his signature on the LOI.

by Coug1990 on Feb 3, 2010 5:00 PM PST up reply actions

if the parent said

that was a factor- and the coach repeated that- then how is it some sort of lame excuse by the coach? If it is true – then wouldn’t the parent be sorta lame being guided by fan blogs? Just because a rebuild means playing time doesn’t diminish the fact that these kids are all talking about how great the coaches were in the process and stayed on them, and in contact— I just don’t see it as a pot shot- mostly though, the kid was unknown- the Cougs brought some light- his senior tape brought more and POOF a bigger school yanked him away. I am just glad we didn’t lose more. And Mizzel is a nice replacement— lose one to Florida, gain one back.

If you can't Go Cougs... don't go.

by hollyweirdcoug on Feb 3, 2010 5:10 PM PST up reply actions

Then why would the coach say it

He had no reason to come out and blame Cleveland to Miami in part on message board postings. Its a bunk excuse that doesn’t need to be brought up in a signing day chat. Chastising fans for message board postings that have no bearing on anything is a little ridiculous.

He went to Miami because he liked Miami and they closed and I disagree with the coach bringing up what he did

by Brian Floyd on Feb 3, 2010 6:06 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

I will repeat, "Cleveland may even have said that, but it is not the real reason."

It is a classic sales objection. What a person says is the objection is almost never the real objection. In sales you ask questions to find out what the real objection is. If bad things written on a blog about the offense were the objection, then it is easily overcome.

“Yes, the offense struggled last year because we are in a rebuilding phase. The offense is still being installed with players that we are recruiting.

Our offense, when we have the correct parts, will use the tight end often. You will be a big part of that and we think you will have a great chance to lead the Pac 10 TE’s in receptions. That is what you would like, isn’t it?

So, what the blogs don’t know that I know and that you know, is how good you are and how much of a difference you will make to the rebuilding process. Remember that we talked about the good thing about a rebuilding process is that you can get early playing time. You do want to come in and compete for a starting job this fall, don’t you?

Asante, when you read blogs, just know that they are fans. So don’t take them seriously because they don’t know the entire story. Does that make sense?"

Again, his father may have said it, but it is not the real reason that Cleveland went to Miami. He went to Miami because the Hurricane coaches gave a presentation to him that Asante and his father thought better met what he wanted in a school. In other words, Miami was better at selling the benefits of the U of M than the Cougar coaches were at selling the benefits of WSU.

by Coug1990 on Feb 3, 2010 7:42 PM PST up reply actions   1 recs

I don't really buy that national exposure thing anymore

I mean, SO MANY games are on TV, and there are so many scouts. If you can play, they’ll all find you. There aren’t any secrets. It’s not like he was choosing between Miami and Missouri State, where you have to wonder about his performance relative to competition. Playing the Pac-10 would have taken care of that.
