Around SBN: 2012 Budweiser Shootout Entry List Released

A Thank You

The coverage of signing day here at CougCenter was absolutely fantastic and made the blog a one-stop place for not only news about who had signed, but instant insight and analysis into the players.  The work put in to the live blog and chat was nothing short of impressive and made it, in my opinion, the best place to go to learn about the future Cougs.  The work that Nuss put in (I know how late you were up on a school night) setting everything up was well worth it in the end.  The insight that Craig added throughout the day was fantastic, in addition to Nuss letting his Coug addition take over the school day.  All of the analysis that followed, including Grady's second annual Elite Eight, gave some real insight into the future of the program.

I bring up signing day as only the latest example of the work all three of you do.  The depth of insight and analysis into all things Cougar sports here is fantastic.  It truly adds to the experience of Cougar athletics.  Educating the readers on the more advanced statistics there are and breaking down the teams are things you just don't find many other places.

In addition to everything else, the use of audio on the site adds so much more than just a typical blog post.  Partnering with the Sports Information Office to add press conferences and the like makes the site that much better of a place to go to feed our Cougar addictions.  The podcasts, including 18 and Life, add a ton to the blog experience and give us a great deal of information, above and beyond the typical analysis.

Finally, the intelligent discussions that are fostered in the comments of the blog are second to none.  The commenters here are able to have intelligent disagreements, using statistics, facts, and their own opinions to create good natured discourse, even in the most heated of discussions.  These things are all a testament to the community that Nuss, Grady, and Craig have fostered.  Instead of the typical yelling matches and name calling that so many blogs fall in to, at CougCenter we are able to have civil conversations about a variety of topics.

I look forward to seeing this community continue to grow.  It adds so much to the Cougar experience and for that I thank you.  Nuss, Craig, and Grady all do fantastic work and I know how much time this takes.  Posts can take hours and days to formulate and we all owe you a sincere thank you.  The least we can do is offer you thanks for all the time and hard work you put in to CougCenter.

Wow.

I’m blushing.

We occasionally get notes like this in our e-mail, and I’m always consistent about our feelings on it: It’s always has been, and will continue to be, about you guys. The amazing community here is what makes it fun to do what we do, and let’s be honest — when the amount of money we make off of this is divided by the number of hours we spend … well, let’s just say it better be fun.

A perfect example was the difficulty Grady and I had when we launched this thing a year and a half ago. Writing about a crappy football team and getting no comments on a post … that’s just not a lot of fun. Writing about a crappy team and having it turn into a 50-comment discussion? Now that’s pretty cool.

Truly, without you guys, this wouldn’t be worth it. The level of discourse here is a credit to all of you. So, thank you right back for coming here day after day and making it worthwhile.

I do want to point out one thing, though — that signing day thread with the monster table was a collaborative effort. Grady and Craig did a ton of amazing work on it; it just so happened that I put the finishing touches on it and was the one who created the post and put it all together. I’m really blessed to work with some great guys.

You guys did a killer job

It was a lot of fun chatting with fellow coug fans as every signing was announced. I think cougcenter is the most efficiently ran cougar website out there and sheer volume of followers and comments on gamedays reflect that. Keep doing a great job guys, its not going unnoticed.

Agreed!

I have looked at the others, and this is the best SBN blog I have seen by a comfortable margin as well. You guys rock!

Even I kinda like you guys...

I thought about not posting this so there was no record, but you guys do a quality job. Not only with WSU but with the Pac-10 in general.
