Wulff signs a DL, but not of the JC variety
Xavier Cooper out of Wilson High in Tacoma. I thought he was going with a JC DT and JC WR, but signing number 24 is Cooper.
Maybe taking the place of Forde?

By the way, this is an excellent example of why I don't like Rivals or ESPN all that much
This guy just signed an LOI with a Pac-10 school, and neither Rivals nor ESPN have him evaluated.

Take a look at his camp video
He seems to move really well for his size and it looks like he has a pretty good frame. People are saying he will delay enrollment and he looks like a player that could end up on either side of the ball.
I really wanted Forde but he actually looks like a better prospects because he is at least a couple inches taller and already carrying about 30 or so more pounds of weight on him.
How does this kid not have a couple of offers at least from the Big Sky?

Dang teasers
TO THE UNINFORMED eye, it might seem like Paul Wulff signed Xavier Cooper today just to get another d-lineman body in the fold. Not the case — not when you consider he was offered by Wisconsin, and that Tennessee was charging hard after him just three days ago. Not when you consider he competes in the 100-meters in track despite weighing 265 pounds. And not when you consider..

Hahaha...
won’t give it away, but he’s a three sport athlete. He plays basketball and runs the 100m in track.
All the PX schools were looking at him, one was even looking for him to play basketball. He had academic issues so most started looking elsewhere (including Wisconsin who had offered him earlier). WSU stuck with him, pushed him to make his grades, and so when he looked to be eligible for this fall, many starting coming back, including Tennessee. By then he’d already committed to Wulff and Co.
I like this tactic by our coaches. If they’ve got the talent but struggling on academics, but show they’re willing to push and make the effort to get qualified, then once they’re on campus with all the academic support available, I feel good about their chances of graduating. We get a glimpse into the kids’ character, and if he doesn’t make it, we have a two year head start on getting him out of a JC.

We need to take some risks
Not too many, landing us in a spot like we are now, but calculated risks. If this kid doesn’t make it, he may still just greyshirt I think.
I like this pick up as I see it now.

Still needs to qualify
He looks like a better prospects than even Pole or Buckley if he gets in as well. It is just going to take him time to qualify and probably grow.
Pole doesn’t have qualifying issues so until these other two show up he is by far our best d-linemen recruits in my book.

The story says
as of now he’s on track to qualify, but that because WSU stuck with him and recruited him the whole time, if he needs to grayshirt, he will. The scout.com NW analyst had good things to say about him as well, and was very surprised he didn’t get more interest.

im happy with it
If were trading cleveland and forde for mizzell and this kid I’m ok with that.
Fetters also had high praise for our class in an article last night callingwhat wulff did nothing short of amazing and praising guys like holliday rodgers and dunn

Had an offer from Wisconsin
UCLA, Oregon and Tennessee were waiting for him to qualify. Guy is real athletic. If he can dunk with 2 hands hopefully he can bat a ton of balls down.

says he runs a 4.9 forty
I like getting another frosh to red or gray shirt and get him on the iron- put a few big bodies in the pipeline! Again- multi sport athlete with good wheels… as the restrictions of the academic scholies go away I am thinking we will see a few more ‘gambles’ like this… I like it.

To understand why Xavier Cooper (6-4, 285, 4.8) didn’t sign this past Wednesday,

I think it changed last night
They updated his stats on his bio page to what hollyweird posted. I thought I saw the same thing you did earlier yesterday
