EDIT NUSS: I'm going to add the last two games of the night here, too.

I will be flipping between both
I hope UNI can keep this up.

Ken Pom has the Huskies winning by 3 (59%).
I’d like to see a large-sample size analysis over who’s more accurate between the two. I have my suspicions, but I don’t know.
Some 7 footer for UNI has two 3's against KU today
He hit one all year.
Probably should keep track of Turner

UNI up 12 over Kansas..
This could really happen. And almost all Americans will procede to burn there brackets.
I might break everything around me

I have 'Cuse winning it all, but KU in the Final Four.
At this point, screw my bracket. GO NORTHERN IOWA
by KirklandCoug on Mar 20, 2010 4:09 PM PDT up reply actions
That's what I would hope for
But I’m losing sweet 16 teams left and right
by KirklandCoug on Mar 20, 2010 4:13 PM PDT up reply actions
Same, here.
I expect to go 3/4 each round to win, and this would be my fifth sweet 16 team. Making that impossible.
I've lost New Mexico, G-Town and SMC from the Sweet 16 as well
New Mexico is done.

UNI is making me hate my bracket even more than I did initially.

I want a divorce from my bracket
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 4:23 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
Kansas can get easy one inside and at the line.
UNI is struggling to get anything.

New Mexico is not as good as I thought they were.
UW is just rolling over them right now.
Freaking five minute commercial breaks.
Have to go back to work soon.

I can't remember the last time Round 2-Day 1 was better than Round 1-Day 2
And the wheels come off for Northern Iowa.
So long 2010 bracket...

CBS has been doing a solid job so far this year
but this is the worst time to cut away
by KirklandCoug on Mar 20, 2010 4:45 PM PDT up reply actions
This is why the tournament needs to be on ESPN...
CBS is killing this right now.

EPSN is just as inept.
With 20% of the screen perpetually displaying game scores the Women’s NCAA is painful to see. The ball disappears constantly as do athletes because the damn scoring overlay.
I thought he was too far under the basket.

Killing me
I don’t need to see a 20 point drubbing

There were a lot of scenarios where I could see Kansas going down
Northern Iowa was most certainly not one of them.
KLaw Tweet
If baseball was broadcast like college basketball, we’d go to commercial with two strikes on the final hitter in the bottom of the 9th.
I have Cuse
So I would think this helps me in a strange way

If the live stats are right
That’s the third highest offensive efficiency allowed by Kansas this year. I didn’t see it, so I’m not sure how it happened, but Northern Iowa does not fit the profile of a team that should be able to do that to Kansas.
Anecdotally, it seemed like UNI was good at getting open looks.
And when they did, they fell. Their inside dudes are beasts, too.
Also, best passing I've seen this tournament.
Easily. I remarked to my girlfriend early that all their passes looked weird, unlike other teams, but that ended up working. Some of those thread-the-needle and behind-the-back assists will be in One Shining Moment, I promise you.
From what I gathered
They were firing from deep and shooting over the top of KUs zone
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 5:00 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
By the way
@InsideTheBCS says it’s a good thing we don’t have a playoff in college football, because goodness knows we wouldn’t want this.
(Actually, in a weird way, this sort of thing is precisely why there won’t be a playoff anytime soon. Can’t have your best teams not in your marquee events.)
I don't want this happening too often in basketball, either.
I still want marquee teams playing high-quality games in the Final Four, but 25-50% epic upsets early is awesome. As long as those teams are put back in their place eventually.
Well
My bracket is totally Farokhmaneshed

In about half my pools, I have KSU in the Elite 8.
In the other half, I have BYU in the Final Four.
This one will be, um, important.
BYU is going to miss a shot at some point, I think.
This happened against Florida, too. Gonna be a long game.
I can't believe someone thought this Southwest commercial was a good idea.
Also, WHERE IS EVERYONE. I finally get home …
I'M HERE!! But it looks like it's been a fairly slow day on the site

Makes sense. I wasn't around much today either.
The weather is just so great right now, have to enjoy it while you can.

Exactly
Was too nice to pass up
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 5:58 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
They have the shooters
Byu going way small. Use it ksu
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 5:54 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
That was easily a trip
He’s a tough kid
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 6:00 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
Good to see Pullen get up.
His beard is awesome.
KSU is gonna foul out all BYUs bigs
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 6:01 PM PDT via mobile reply actions
KSU can run all day
I don’t think BYU can
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 6:05 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
When I left earlier my bracket was just fine
Now I owe apologies to Duke, who was my original champion and current favorite
ha! mine too
i did all my research and everything pointed to Duke. And i said “no effing way am I rooting for Duke for 3 weeks”….
look where that got me….Rock Chalk!
Don't you know anything about basketball? You have to outscore the other team to win!
by johnnycougar on Mar 20, 2010 6:07 PM PDT up reply actions
My favorite part of that is where they called UW a "finesse" team
I don’t think they’re dumb. I just think they have no idea what they’re talking about when it comes to teams that aren’t on ESPN all the time.
i have byu in the elite 8....
but i’d rather nuss went to vegas
I've made a killing today, brackets be damned!
St Mary’s +4, Murray State +3.5, NIowa +9, The over on KU/NIowa, Baylor -4.5 and the over on the UW game….
Jumped off the coach for that last one
I’m firmly planted on the bandwagon. They just need to lose the purple
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 6:20 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
I honestly thought BYU would be able to combat its lack of athleticism with composure
I was not right. Happily.
Much better
It would be poetic if you got a trip out of it

Jacob Pullen ladies and gentlemen
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 6:55 PM PDT via mobile reply actions
How not to come back:
Heave up threes from three feet out over double coverage without even the chance to set your feet while in transition.
Is everyone taking notes about how to break down a 2-3 zone
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 7:05 PM PDT via mobile reply actions
Well that too
I was more watching how they used the high post and ball reversal to open lanes to drive.
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 7:13 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
Oh I know
Though they are killing it from three which helps a ton
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 7:17 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
Heck of a pass
And an awesome finish
by Brian Floyd on Mar 20, 2010 7:16 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
You know, if K-State wasn't giving the ball away one out of four possessions
This would be a blowout.
BYU looks horrific.
The lead is not so horrible you have to take every shot, you can wait for an open look.
WHY CAN'T I REC THIS FROM MY PHONE?????
Franklin comes alive!
by Grady Clapp on Mar 20, 2010 8:15 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions
BYU overplays every passing lane.
Seems like every time the ball goes in, someone bites the wrong way on a fake and then you’ve got someone wide open under the rim.
Well, it's not helping that KSU started slowing down on offense with 6 minutes to go
That, I do not understand.
I heard an interview with John Salley the other day
He said he liked the NBA better than college because the NBA is all about the players, and the college game is all about coaches and referees. I hate to admit it, but it’s pretty much true.
I'll say I may agree with that.
But, I’d prefer it to be about the coaches, so that part’s not really a negative for me.
Just looked at the standings for Cougcenter
Not a good day for me. My wife is now in 10th. I’m in 30th. She is officially banned from entering next year.
my wife knows nothing about college basketball except Tony Bennett is hot and games are on during Food Network's new shows
but she could still probably fill out a decent bracket
My wife doesn't know a whole lot more
Many of her picks were based on which mascot/team color she prefers.
I'M still pissed about it...
although if I were a KSU fan, my temper would’ve subsided a bit now….
i have a new nemesis: his name is krebs
i had the under on the kentucky game at 149.5. Some scrub off UK’s bench drained a meaningless three at the buzzer to put the game at 150
probably a good thing
i use $100 a year to make games more interesting…..i’m up a ton over these three days though, so I’ll see you in Vegas. Your wife will understand when you buy her a new car.
Oh, the old "guard play" canard
Do they not realize this game was more or less won with defense (1.05 ppp) and offensive rebounding (42 percent)?
Announcers are dumb.
If your job is to talk about stuff
Shouldn’t it be a basic requirement to do some research and learn how to pronounce names — especially if it’s a team from your hometown?*
* Dave Niehaus does not apply.
Why Didn't Bone recruit Farokhmanesh?
I demand answers. Hot tub time machine technology clearly exists and should be used to backwards-recruit.
by Grady Clapp on Mar 20, 2010 8:21 PM PDT via mobile reply actions
Ali
Yeah, we gotta root for Farokhmanesh. He was born in Pullman. Forget your bracket. It’s about Coug family.
Agreed.
Great story. I think he started at Pullman High, but graduated from an Iowa high school, then floated around in the JC ranks until making it to UNI.
He worked hard to make it in D-1 basketball. Glad to see he got his moment.
