Casto arrested for assault
4th degree assault early this morning. Would you guys please stop getting arrested?

Sigh.
I’m starting to wonder if the Pullman Police just arrest everyone when there’s a disagreement. I’ve never heard of so many fourth degree assault arrests, most of which have simply been dismissed.
This one sounds a bit more serious to me
From Vince’s report.

Doesn't sound too bad
A small cut to the head for the other guy in the fight. But still, it can’t be that hard to avoid being arrested.
Agreed, not to bad.
But I dont think this one gets dismissed

I hadn't yet seen the updated report with the punch and cut
Yeah, I think you’re probably right, if he did it. Still, if what he did was substantial, he would have been arrested for a lot more than fourth degree assault.
When I was there...
They enacted a stricter fighting ordinance. They’re going to arrest you if there’s a fight and can arrest you as a bystander.
It was at 865 B St, which is the SAE house, and sounds like it was a fight at the door. Take from that what you will.
Well, you never know
There’s the potentially for something incredibly awesome to happen, or something really bad can happen. There’s no middle ground after midnight.
I heard someone said Buffalo Wild Wings is bad
so he punched him in the face/

For those that don't know
Casto is an SAE. I was in a frat (that’s actually right across the street from SAE) and I can definitely say that there are plenty of drunk people who decide to mess with frats just for the sake of doing so. If I was as big as Casto I might have been arrested for assault a few times simply for protecting my house.
But I don;t know anywhere near the whole story, so who knows. Though for those of you that are friends with Casto on facebook, would you agree that his recent status updates have been slightly…troubling?
I should've added that Casto was an SAE
I knew this as well. There’s been plenty of times I’ve seen fights in my own front yard and drunk people doing some dumb stuff just to mess with other houses.
Guess we’ll wait and see what comes of this.
I really start to wonder about this stuff
They sent five units to the scene, and the only person they arrested was the biggest, blackest dude?
Sorry
I noticed that too
And unlike Atofaus where a cop saw it, this was phoned in by a kid

I do trust the cops that were there
Mostly because I know most of the responding guys very well. They’re good at their job and very level headed

I hope you're right
It just seems, anecdotally, that when these things happen, the only people arrested are the players. And I have a hard time believing they’re the only ones at fault.
I think part of this is the recognizability (new word?) of the athletes
A college kid won’t be able to point out another kid in a fight and many times arrests won’t come from your typical fight on College Hill. However, Bobby Basketballplayer and Fred Footballguy are recognizable and easily pointed out, even if they were bystanders. While a typical college kid can skate because nobody recognizes them, if an athlete is involved in a fight, it’s easier for them to be identified, whether it’s right or wrong.
I agree it's wrong, but I wouldn't put that on police
In a fight situation, if a kid says “Casto punched me”, shows signs he was punched, and is able to ID him, then the police are going to have to arrest him if the kid wants charges pressed. If it comes out later that there was no wrongdoing, good, but that comes down to the judicial system.
