Today, I fully understand what it means to be a Coug
On the one-year [edit: -and-one-day] anniversary of you-know-what, I think it's only fitting to drag this out of the archives. Reading it again, I can't say I feel much different. I wish Tony success, but I'll never be fooled again, that's for sure. Yay, cynicism!

My first CougCenter post I ever read
I still agree with it as well.

It appears so...
I’m embarrassed. This was all me.

I would also like to point out that it is the one year and one day anniversary of Grady's brilliantly timed post
It was near impossible odds that Grady could write that post only to have what happened, happen, the next day…
I never saw this
I don’t know wether to laugh or cry.

I think I might be bragging, which disgusts me, but ...
This is what I wrote in response to Grady’s article. For what it’s worth, I honestly think about this post every time I watch Cougar basketball or think about the Rose Bowl.
Let’s not get too comfortable
I really want to believe that Coach Tony will stay in Pullman forever, but I also thought Coach Price was going to stay forever. I was never so sure of Price’s permanence in Pullman than the week before the announcement that he was going to Alabama. I was telling my brother-in-law how Price was WSU, that he was respected, valued and trusted, despite many years of futility.
We can never get comfortable. We always need to worry, to some degree. It might be that he leaves when we least expect it.

I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. Ugh
I wanted to believe he was different
In a way, this was good for me long term. Because now, I figure if Tony Bennett can go at any time, anyone can go at any time.
I agree to an extent
First, I, too, thought Tony was different and would see the Casto/Thompson/Capers class through, or at least until after next season, and I got the same “look” from people. I never thought he would stick around forever. After he stuck around after the sweet sixteen team, I thought he would hold out a bit longer and was shocked he left us for Virginia. In the end, I still believe Bone will actually be better in the long long term because of the type of player he recruits, but that’s a different subject.
Also, I get the same “look” from people when I tell people Wulff will turn this around. Hope I’m write.
Cynicism is preventative medicine
You can’t prove it always works for the best, but it gives you peace of mind.
Nuss... Didn't the TB departure give you the largest spike in Cougcenter traffic than ever before?
That’s at least one plus.
Yes, it did
March 30 2009 is still our biggest day in terms of page loads — more than 7,200. However, we’ve had a handful of bigger days in terms of unique visitors. We had so many different posts dedicated to Tony that day that I think people were just surfing to all of them to comment. It really was sort of a watershed moment for us. The carryover into April was crazy — with no basketball being played, April 09 was our biggest month until November 09.
