Oregon State 59, WSU 55
Is euthanasia legal on a basketball season?
Player of the Game - Klay Thompson - Welcome back, old friend. 18 points on very efficient 7 of 11 shooting, including 4 of 6 from distance. If you had told me this would happen before the game, I would have guaranteed a victory. Too bad. Klay also had a team high eight boards. Downside: 0 to 4 assist to turnover ratio. The "stop shooting" threads over on Cougfan should shift to "stop passing".
Unsung Hero - Nikola Koprivica - For future years I'm seriously considering renaming this the "Nikola Koprivica Unsung Hero Award". 12 points on 4 of 6 (2 of 4) shooting, 6 boards, and a positive (2:1) assist to turnover ratio!
It was over when... WSU couldn't rebound the missed front end of a one-and-one with under 30 seconds remaining. It would've given the Cougs the ball down one with a chance to win. Instead, one of the Tarvers went to the line and made it a three-point game. This is pretty much the kind of thing we've come to expect.
Stat of the Game - Let's not kid ourselves. It's a miracle we almost won a game where we had 15 points and 15 turnovers in one half. Unreal.

That one's removed too...
except I know what it was now.
Impressive second half from the Cougs.
I must admit, as I sat at home listening to this game I thought that after the first half the Cougs were done. OSU was running, had tons of momentum and has been a pretty good closer this year. That run to open the second was scary. Thompson reminded everyone in Corvallis that, “Oh yeah, he’s pretty good, isn’t he?” and I honestly felt like the Cougs would win by 3 until the final 1:20.
Wish this one was on TV.
Now go beat Oregon.
I am keeping the faith. Oregon is a must win!
The funny thing is, I would rather be an up and down team than a team who is never competitive, e.g., 2008 and 2009 Coug football teams. I used to think the opposite by the way until I actually had to watch a bad team like the 2008 and 2008 Coug football.
We should be glad for 4 pt losses.
Im not glad for that 4 point loss
We had multiple good chances to take the lead and left them on the table

This is hilarious
You’re keeping the faith, and I’m done. How does this happen? Are we in bizarro world?
We may just be. I pretty much written off getting my hopes too high
and therefore am really ok with the up and down. Maybe Coug football has fried my fandom senses so much anything better than being stomped is a positive!

I don't think my hopes have been very high recently
But they’ve failed to even meet that low bar. That’s discouraging.
And, while we're on the subject
Does anyone else find it pitiful that “anything better than being stomped is a positive” for us right now?
I mean seriously … think about that.
Id rather be stomped to be honest
Because we haven’t been getting run. We’ve been in games and can’t put a full one together or get over the hump in games.
This makes me want to pull my hair out

Pulling my hair out
is better than the empty, soulless feeling I was getting every game during football season. WAY better.
I cant figure out whats worse
Feeling like we have no shot during football, or knowing the potential and watching us get painfully close only to lose in basketball. I’m leaning towards the latter

It all sucks in varying degrees
Which is how to also explain being a Cougar athletics fan at times

How does the 8-9 play in game work at this point?
since we lost this one… to avoid the 8-9 game, do we have to win saturday and stanford has to loose, putting us tied with stanford… and in a tie, were we split our games with them this year, does it then fall to overall record in which case we bump ahead of them and the 8-9 game is then oregon-stanford?
just trying to see if there’s a scenario left that doesn’t involve us playing back to back games against Oregon.
The easiest way I can explain
Is it comes down to record against teams from the top down. If we win and Stanford loses, we both were swept by Cal, ASU, and UW. After that its a jumble. If OSU finishes fourth (they win and Az lose with USC also losing) we take the 8. If Az wins, we take the 7, same with Asu over usc. It gets confusing

Do we have to go through all of this again. haha
Last year somebody had too much time on their hands and made a huge hypothetical PAC10 seeding post. That’s just too much time to be thinking about something that is going to become irrelevant in a matter of days…
I dont care about seeding
I do care about avoiding Wednesday. Win tomorrow and odds are good we do that. Lose and odds are good we play Oregon on Wednesday

To answer the first question...
Yes, and the needle is in the arm. Just waiting for someone to push the plunger.
they did pass the "death with dignity law" a while ago
www.nwfan.com
We can get the death part
But I think we lost the dignity part last night.
