Rock the Vote

OK, so I stole that headline from someone else. I'm just shameless today.

If you're like me and you need to get your mind off of our team, here's your opportunity. Last year, the trio of authors put together our inaugural Pac-10 all-conference awards. And as we work on this year's edition, a thought hit me.

Perhaps you all would like a voice, too!

So, here's your chance. After the jump is a form you can fill out to submit your votes. It's pretty lengthy, but you have to fill the whole thing out  for your vote to be counted.

We'll post this around at the various Pac-10 SB Nation sites, too, and try to make this an SB Nation-wide vote. I have no idea how it will go, but we're going to give it a shot.

Just a few points of clarification.

  1. We're asking for your home blog because it might be interesting to see how certain fan bases vote.
  2. We're asking for your SB Nation user name because it will hopefully help keep us from getting spammed. Don't worry, we won't share how you voted, unless ...
  3. If you leave a comment and we use it on the results post, we'll attribute it to your user name. If you don't want that to happen, don't leave any comments.
  4. Base your selections on performance in conference, not the whole year.
  5. This is an all-conference team, therefore, you are asked to select players who would actually comprise a basketball team. None of this wishy-washy, best five or 10 players regardless of position crap the actual conference does.

That's about it. We'll post the results next week.

This is very true.

Also picking 15 players who deserve “All Pac-10” status, not so easy.

Yeah, I was somewhere between 10 and 15

Had to leave a couple guys out, but would have struggled to fill three teams.

I had a hard time for the freshman team

Just looking at the official conference stats, I only saw four players appear on more than one “top 10 in conference” list (eg points, rebounds, assists…). I also had trouble picking the defensive team (if we had great defenders in this conference, maybe we’d have a better non-con record). Actually, about the only thing I didn’t have a hard time with was COY and the 1st team.

So you had a tough debate over your home blog, then?

Shawn Spencer: "I’m receiving a transmission from your husband. Really more of a voicemail, if I'm being honest. A status update. Perhaps a twitter."
Burton Guster: "I believe it’s called a tweet."
Shawn Spencer: "There’s no way I’m saying that."

Mine was Moore, Lockett, Williams, Honeycutt, Nelson

I have to admit, finding a shooting guard was a little tough.

I explained why I picked the other guard in mine in my comments

It came down to X and Gaddy for me and I picked X. That was the toughest call I had in my ballot. I honestly forgot about Lockett, but even adding him to the mix would still make it a toss up

Bleh. That's great.

While filling out the form, I pressed some button that submitted my unfinished voting.

Thanks for taking the time to do this Nuss

I’m very interested to see the results in a week or so, hopefully we won’t see blatant homerism.

Can I trade Jorge Gutierrez for Overton on my all-defense?

Can’t believe I forgot that guy. Just ‘cause the refs reward Overton for his constant hand-checking (tripping, mugging, etc.) doesn’t mean I should.

Just playin' it safe.

I’m sure there are a few community guidelines I could violate while describing Venoy Overton.

Thanks for the poll guys

but, it might be helpful if you could pre-select and summarize the accomplishments of the candidates for each award. I watched all the SC games, but not all of the conference games. So, I don’t really have the time to research the conference stats to offer a credible vote. Call me lazy, but some summary stats or links to the appropriate data, would be really helpful.

OK, you're lazy

You think I have the time to do it if you don’t?

Ha, big-time sports blogger, right?

That’s why they pay you the big bucks? Surely your SBN stock options are in the money?

Yup

Simply can’t wait until 2025 when I can cash those suckers in. I’m planning my retirement on it.
