According to those same sources, the current "lean" — and that’s all it is right now — is to split the league in a North/South manner with all four California schools together in the South with the Arizonas. When I expressed mild surprise ("The Northwest schools are OK with that?"), the response I got was: Expect to see major scheduling concessions for schools in the North and perhaps even changes in the TV revenue distribution.

Wilner on the conference discussions.

What kind of scheduling concessions could there be?

I don’t really get the options there. But the TV revenue distribution would be very nice.

Extra games in LA.

Definitely have to like the CASH MONEY.

We gonna be rich!

Yeah, I’m guessing there will be side deals like the NW schools get X number of games in California each year. Also, $$$$$$$$

by Brian Floyd on Aug 30, 2010 8:59 AM PDT up reply actions

How does that work?

The only way to get more games in L.A. would be either to not have 5 intradivision games, thereby opening up another game for an interdivision game, or not scheduling true home and homes with the North teams. For example we would visit USC 3 of every 5 matchups. However, both of these create big problems when you try to balance out the schedule in other ways. I just don’t get how it’s possible.

You can guarantee there will be some funky scheduling.

It will be the only way to compromise.

I meant 4 intradivision games*

but yeah, I’m sure those smarter than me can figure it out.

Vince is not happy with that 2-deep that released yesterday.

Link.

I will say there was a two-deep floating around the web yesterday that was rife with mistakes, as far as I can tell. The official one will be out today and it will look nearly identical to the ones we’ve been running each day with our position previews. It’s not rocket surgery. You watch practice, keep track of who runs out when the ones are called, when the twos are called and check off the injured players. If there is a change from day-to-day, you note it. It’s that simple.

BURN.

Ted Miller likes Brandon Rankin.

Link.

Newcomer of the year (defense): Brandon Rankin, DT, Washington State

We hate to interrupt your mocking of Washington State, but Rankin, a JC transfer who stuck with the Cougars despite an offer from Alabama, is going to be a force on a surprisingly stout D-line.

Depth chart for Ok State game relseased

LINK

A couple of notable things I caught.
—True freshman Deon Bucannon listed as the #2 SS. Apparently both he and Casey Locker have passed up Jamal Atofau.
—Four true freshman listed on the offense/defense 2-deep. Galvin and Furney make the special teams two deeps.
—Aire Justin is not listed as one of the top 4 CB’s. He was running with the 1’s pre-injury so either guys passed him or he doesn’t look to be healthly for week one.
