AUDIO: USC Season Preview With Conquest Chronicles
Next up in our series of short team previews is USC, with Conquest Chronicles' Joey Kaufman. We talk about whether he's sick of the Lane Kiffin bashing, whether Matt Barkley can become an elite quarterback, and whether USC will be able to stay motivated. Recorded Aug. 26, 2010.
If you're wondering why they're so short, we know a lot of people don't have a lot of time to listen to a ton of audio, so the interview portion of each of these previews is purposely being kept to "five good minutes," as they like to say on ESPN's Pardon The Interruption. In total, each episode is less than 10 minutes, and we'll have one or two a day for you through next week.

Again the host of the show just doesn't get it.
Stating that joe brought up a good point that the players are not going to just mail it in, because they want to be in the NFL. He states later that he never looked at it that way, but then says that he thinks that the players will not give it all if they lose one or two. He is talking about team goals vs. personal goals, but he doesn’t realize that they do feed on each other. Really you can’t say to yourself that if I make all the tackles that it will get me in the NFL and the heck with the team or most running yards. All of these things from tackles, sacks, completions, yards, etc. will combine for a winning team. It is not like tennis or golf where personal records mean a lot it is a team and the coaches keep it that way.
So Fight On USC followers and Don’t worry WE Will Still Play on Saturdays and Bowls will come later, for WE ARE SC not That other Softball University. Oh and don’t say you now have a baseball team, it’s not Real Baseball unless you use Wooden Bats

The NFL drafts on talent, not on stats
Yes, it may help to make tackles, but by and large they draft on athletic ability.
It’s a valid line of questioning for this years USC team. Right now, they have a chance to run the table and stick it to everybody. If they lose a game, what will happen? Nobody can say for sure right now.

Personal achievement and team achievement are not always compatible in football
And if you don’t understand that, you don’t understand football very well.
Dude I played FB and BB and pro tennis and have coached tennis for 35 years, but you can hold your own opinion as I will mine.
