Grippi's interview with Ken Bone got me thinking about basketball lineups. The news that Motum put on 25 lbs. is huge...
The starters should be:
1. Reggie
W. Capers
W. Thompson
4. Motum
5. Casto
That is going to make the bench critical to this teams success. I think that if Moore makes a jump (he needs be able to body up in the post and rebound at the pac-10 level. Offensively he is a match up nightmare for a lot of teams I think Pau Gasol when I see him, he can shoot outside, makes great passes, and has great length), and Capers improves his outside shooting so he can at least knock down a mid range shot, that this 5 could run with anybody in the country.
This means that Aden and Simon need to play well off the bench along with at least one more of the freshman I don't think Ladd is elegible this year, looks he was a good shooter at Fresno St. last year.
Lodwick I think will do what he does, which is hustle and provide minutes off the bench. It would be nice if we could finally see the shooting touch he was so highly touted for this year, maybe another year of growing up will help his confidence. It would be nice if Bjornstad could contribute, I think a redshirt could have helped him although he did play some minutes last year so that will probably speed up his development a little. Enquist never seemed like a play who had the potential to play serious minutes.
The best part of all this... We seem to have a lot of talent and experience, but no seniors. Klay, Capers, and Casto have as much experience as many seniors around the country but are still Juniors. I feel very comfortable with those 3 in leadership rolls, I think this could be a break out season. I hope Klay and Reggie have learned what it takes to be consistant players at the D-1 level. If they have, watch out Pac-10.
What do you guys think?
