The BlogPoll is here! The BlogPoll is here! As you can see, Boise State is inching closer to the top, receiving 30 first place votes this week. It's still early so the results tend to be a jumbled mess as bloggers try to figure out what theory they want to vote with. You can find the full write-up here.

After the jump, my ballot.

So, This was just kind of thrown together. Oklahoma looked terrible, they're gone. USC's defense was questionable, so they were dropped lower. Florida couldn't snap the ball, so down they went. I was impressed with Michigan and Denard Robinson this weekend, so they're in.

This is where I ask for your help. This weeks poll's already done, but every Sunday this year I'm going to ask for help. I want all of you to help rank the teams in the BlogPoll. Combined with what I've seen, we should be able to put together a good ballot.

I took a different approach to it

What you’ll see happen as this goes along and resumes are built is Boise State falling. It came down to who had the better week one win, for me. BSU barely edges TCU, who dismantled OS.

I didn’t even look at my preseason ballot, simply going off what I saw only in week one. I guess the thing to get my mind around was it’s built not necessarily to predict the end-of-season, but to choose who has the best resume.

In that regard, this will change drastically in the first five weeks as teams build resumes. This is also why I’m asking for help.

And, like I said, I'll be soliciting help now

Because I’m only one man and this relies on user participation. I can’t watch them all, but between everyone here we can get a better idea.

I just thought it was odd to drop them completely

sometimes teams look worse than they are in week 1(see Cougars, Washington State).

I could definitely see moving them down, but not out completely. I’d at least have them ahead of Michigan still I think

The way I did it

Was a clean, blank slate for week one. Preseason polls are cute, but the theory behind the BlogPoll is to work only with what you’ve seen. With that, I used the resumes build in the first week to decide on picks, ignoring any preseason expectations while also not looking ahead at the schedule.

I guess I look at it as a snapshot. A “what have you done for me up until now” kind of poll. As the season goes along, it’ll be more clear, but early on it’ll be messy until teams build solid resumes.

Yes

On Sunday, I’ll take suggestions, draft a ballot from them, then take more suggestions.

This week was a bit hectic with games running until late Monday night — with the Monday night game being important — and ballots being due early Tuesday.

Poor Beavs!

You lose to a top 10 team (now top 5) in the closing seconds of (essentially) an away game and you get kicked off the top 25. Meanwhile, if you are the Ducks, you kill a high school team and you’re a top 5 team. I just can’t take these polls seriously until we get to conference play.

Crap, I meant to include OS

Still, I felt like TCU had that game in hand most of the way, though the score wouldn’t indicate it. Like I said, it’s early and you’re going to see a ton of movement in the first five or six weeks.
