You Are Cordially Invited
If you happen to live within driving distance of Rogers High School in Puyallup, I'd like to officially invite you to be my guest at the Paul M. Stilnovich Pavilion on Friday night for what promises to be one heck of a high school basketball game between Rogers (where I teach) and No. 8 Curtis at 7 p.m.
The game features not only incoming WSU guard Davonte Lacy but also is a clash between the two top teams in the SPSL South. Curtis has been ranked all season, and Rogers is now hanging out on the fringes of the top 10. The first game at University Place went to overtime, and this one will be electric.
If you want to make sure you get a great seat, I'd suggest getting there no later than 6:30 p.m. It's going to fill up, and you might get relegated to the bleachers above if you get there too close to 7. My seat will be fantastic, as I'm the announcer. Unfortunately, that means I won't get to chit-chat during the game, but if you are planning on being there, hit me up via e-mail with your phone number so we can connect afterward.

You will be completely shocked to find out that I do advanced stats for our coach.

Man, I didn't even have basic stats when I coached.
I was lucky if I had somebody that could keep track of fouls properly.
It’s all good, though, the old squad is 18-0 this year.

It's been a bit of a challenge getting accurate stats
I finally started just keeping a simple tally of the four factors for myself.
Excuse me, are you saying BOO or BOOURNS?
I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. Ugh

Man...
If I was at home and not here in Pullman I’d definitely go to cheer on Curtis for the first time in my life proudly (in a sarcastic way) wearing green silver and black. Go Jags!

The Jags would totally destroy both of these teams!
He says totally ignoring the 73-25 home loss to Rogers.
Emerald Ridge pride! I don’t care how bad we are. I’m too used to cheering for losing team, I might go crazy of one of my teams suddenly became successful…

ERHS all the way!!!
but seriously… ERHS : School pride :: UW : Humility ….. doesn’t exist…one of the many reasons I came to WSU
On the bright side, ER has good academics though…that counts for something, right? Colman’s intro to flight class was a blast.
My friend went to UW, but didn't get a decent job.
He is now at WSU looking for a new major.

and did we really only score 25?
Man, if I would have tried out back in the day, the team would still be riding the wave of success my talent would have brought haha
That's true
There were a ton of great teachers at ER. Classes with Coleman and White was some of the most fun I’ve ever had at school. Who needs to win sports at Emerald Ridge. Remember, everyone’s a winner at Emerald Ridge.

Go Jaguars!
Heck yeah! I didn’t know that we have all of this ERHS representation on CougCenter!
I also had some great times in White’s class. Paterno, Swanson, Walden…good ’ol Lowney. I need to swing by there for a visit one of these days.
And Nuss knows ALL about teaching at ERHS…
There seems to be a huge representation
Of puyallup as a whole

Emerald Ridge didn't even exist when I was in the SPSL,
and there was no 4A schools, just 3A. Puyallup just had PHS and Rodgers. Booo.

Eastern washington hoops ftw!
But we most def need a Nuss soundbyte!
Any plans to run for mayor of Puyallup?
Paul Stilnovich was the principal when i went to Rogers. He once suspended me for a game for being a bad fan. I just yelled at the refs that they sucked…not like I was lying. He was a good man though.
They're still pretty tight here with the fans
But I actually like it. You don’t realize how classless some fans can be until those fans come into our gym and demonstrate it. I’m proud of our kids.
Definately agree that fans can be classless
It can be a real problem, so I support a pretty strict monitoring. We’re working on student leaders monitoring the student sections at our games to help keep things positive. Kids are kids, and they sometimes forget that the players parents, grandparents, and neighbors don’t really appreciate some of the chants they might start.
Can someone take thier Flip video and record Lacy?

I think stanford has
One that they use for their webcasts. Maybe we can borrow it.

LOL. Only if we can get their play-by-play.
Although I am not smart enough to understand or speak Stanfordease. That was an “ambitious 3!” Yes one of their announcers actually said that.

Hey Nusser
After two of these gatherings, I’m starting to get a hunch that you deliberately schedule them in places where WSU students (i.e. myself, GoCougs, Brett, and others) can’t get to you.
"And here commmmmmmme the Buckeyyyyyyyyyes" ~Brent Musberger
I know, sorry
However! There’s a better than zero chance that I will be in Pullman on a non-basketball weekend in February (16-18). Maybe we can put together a viewing party somewhere for the ASU game on Saturday.
That would be cool
I’m in. I can probably fit about 4 or 5 of you in my dorm room
