EDIT NUSS: Bumped because it's awesome and I like nostalgia. Although, before the days of DVRs, we had to settle for wasting hours upon hours playing NHL 97 on my PlayStation ... One ... yelling at my buddy who found the magic scoring slot for cheating, and breaking controllers by smashing them into the floor when I lost. I'm not a good loser. Anyway, enjoy!
This game was, without a doubt, the greatest college basketball day I have ever been a part of. As a freshman at this fine institution I have experienced big games before (Kansas State and Gonzaga come to mind), but never had I experienced an event like this. For those of you that weren't there, I'll allow you to live vicariously through me. For those of you that were there, I'll allow you to relive this fantastic day.
My day started with the annoying buzz of an alarm clock. I promptly hit snooze.
My day started (again) with the annoying buzz of an alarm clock. I slowly got out of bed, grabbed a cliff bar and walked the snowy, cold 15 minutes to work at the WSU Rec Center. I should have been taking out trash and cleaning toilets, but the only thing that I could see was visions of rushing the court after beating the Dawgs dancing in my head.
11:45 AM (Yes, my shift ends at 12. I left early. I'm a rebel)
I arrive back at my home away from home in beautiful Scott Hall. I settle in and write a 200 word Spanish essay (Only 175 words. Again, I'm a rebel), and start to study for my big science test on Monday. I get distracted by the internet.
I start to study for my big science test on Monday. I realize I didn't watch The Office from Thursday (It's the one with Ricky Gervais!!)
I start to study for my big science test on Monday. I realize I didn't watch Conan on Thursday either (It's the one where he goes to the wax museum. Hilarious)
I start to study for my big science test on Monday. My friend Mike comes over and we play Mario Kart 64.
Mike and I head to lunch before getting in line.
We get in line. It's already wound it's way from the student entrance, around Beasley and down the ramps. We take our spots on the sidewalk just outside of the walkway to the ramps and the waiting game begins.
Guy behind us brought his dog for some reason. The dog tries to eat everyone's food. Owner thinks it's cute. It's not
Players start driving by on their way out of the arena. Car with Marcus Caper stops and he gets out and shakes hands with every one in that part of line. Great guy. (Mental note: I'm never washing my hand again)
KHQ's Sam Adams drops by to do interviews with the freezing crowd. The girls right next to us are interviewed and the annoying dog bites the microphone.
The FSN guys come by and get shots of the crowd. I (finally) get my 5 seconds of fame
Sun goes down, it starts to get very cold. The girls in front of us are brought freshly baked cupcake. They gave some to us. They were delicious.
Coaches buy pizza for the students in line. The poor delivery girl is mauled.
Doors open, sprint for great seats begins!
We finally get to the door... the fast walk for decent seats begins!
I hijack the CougCenter thread with my mobile, on site knowledge
The awesome begins!
(About) 8:15 PM
The roof flies off of Beasley as Reggie Moore flies at least 10 feet... Maybe 20... Upon further review, he jumped from the half court line at least.
The final buzzer rings and I make the dumbass decision to put on my coats before rushing the court. The result: Pure joy + heat stroke + lack of oxygen = One of the best moments of my life
Enjoy this win Cougs. I know that I did.
