AUDIO: Podcast, Episode 46 - It Just Gets Worse
Back with another podcast. Craig and I debrief the mess that was the loss to Cal, with particular attention paid to the lack of progress on the defensive side of the ball. We also talk about basketball, and just what to expect out of this team considering the numerous injuries that are surrounding the team as it heads to the opener at Gonzaga.
You should be hearing more podcasts from now on, as we have ourselves a real-deal producer now: GoCougs himself, Mr. Jeff Collier. He'll now be the guy who is handling all the postproduction work; it takes about an hour to do all the mixing, exporting, uploading, etc., and saving me that time makes it far more likely that we can do this on a regular basis. Thanks, Jeff!
You can find us on iTunes here, or by simply searching "CougCenter"; you also can manually subscribe to our new feed: http://cougcenterpodcast.wordpress.com/feed/ .
You can listen to the podcast after the jump, either by downloading it by clicking on the link or by clicking the little circle to the left of the link or by clicking the little gray tab with the white triangle in it that's sticking out in the lower left-hand corner of this page. The latter is actually a nifty little Yahoo! player .

"Much more excited about that...
than the way our football team played Saturday."
Nice segue.
#CougHarmonyonTwitter with your pants off, M*tha F*cker!
unhealthy skepticism of Gonzaga
is actually very healthy considering as you said, the WCC league is less than impressive.Gonzaga usually plays a big name marquee team that usually overrated and when they win the whole fan base goes nuts, and starts saying they should go the final four. I share your sentiment, and I don’t care for Mark Few either. Seattle U? really??? that’s funny It will be interesting to see how Jimmer-less BYU team can do in the WCC and maybe challenge Gonzaga. We can only hope!
I cant define it, I cant tell somebody who isnt a Cougar what its like. Theres something that happens at Washington State;. You quietly and subtly become infected Washington State is a passion. - Coach Jim Walden (1978-1986)
For what it's worth
Pomeroy projects it as 1) Gonzaga, 2) St. Mary’s and 3) BYU this year.

Enjoyed it! Few Thoughts
Gonazga game is a win/win situation. Loss in no way hurts the rest of the season, crazy unexpected win on ESPN would give the team instant national attention and i could start day dreaming about an at large birth in the tournament.(a lot more what if possibilities become realistic.)
I don’t think there will be a dominant team in the Pac 12 so the tournament should be wide open and no matter how the team looks headed in I will be filled with an unhealthy amount of optimism. 12 teams just makes it more exciting to me.
My only expectation is that the team in March looks and plays better than the team in Nov/Dec. I want to watch a team in March that looks like it’s an off-season and recruiting class away from being a legit NCAA tournament team.
Nice work with the music at the end Jeff Collier. Way to close it out.

I think you guys are right
that fans get on the offense more because it is easier to tell what is going on. With the defense it is hard to yell at them for the plays they are running, because it doesn’t matter what they run they still get burned. I think the real reason fans have been getting on Sturdy is there is actual potential there. I don’t know if you have ever coached, but you get frustrated with the talented players because you know it is there, but the players that don’t have talent you don’t get mad at them, you only get mad at them if they don’t work hard and most non-talent players work their butts off. The defense is so bad people just don’t have anything to say anymore. Like you guys said, we know we can’t rush the QB, if the DBs are on a island they get burned, the LBs are talented but out of position or over pursue. These players are working there butts off and I don’t think the defense is bad due to lack of effort, it’s just lack of both talent and experience. That is why a lot of people focus on the offense. We know the defense is really bad, so there isn’t much to say there. Fans need something to talk about.
