Who doesn't think WSU was "the worst FBS program in America by a long, long ways" when Wulff got here? I mean, sure -- out of all 120 FBS teams, we may have had the worst statistics. But comparing the level of competition/strength of schedule to teams in "weaker" conferences causes me to believe those stats are misleading. We were definitely the worst team in the conference, and it wasn't even close. It's that gap in talent between us, the doormat, and the rest of the conference that deflated our numbers. If we had a Mountain West schedule do you still think we put up those horrendous stats? Probably not. I just think it's a misconception that I'm tired of hearing. I will concede that if you look at "worst FBS program" as encompassing off-field issues as well, it may be an accurate statement.
