494 Yards for Connor Halliday. Huge throw after huge throw. Gigantic catches all over the place by Marquess Wilson, Jared Karstetter and Isiah Barton.
If you read my preview, you know I had next to no faith that this would happen. However, we knew that Halliday was a bit of a wild card. Wow....was he ever.
ASU was poised to put this game away midway through the fourth quarter. But a huge fourth down stuff by Brandon Rankin gave the team a new energy. A third down catch and run by Rickey Galvin got WSU out of trouble. A third-and-fourteen TD pass to Isiah Barton gave the Cougs the lead.
The defense held in the red zone again on the ensuing ASU possession, leading to a missed chip shot field goal. The offense was able to drive 80 yards for the game clinching TD after two, you guessed it, MASSIVE third down catches by our beloved MQW.
As Mark said, MQW is now the single-season receiving yardage record holder for WSU. What a day for him. 222 yards and three scores. His best day as a Coug.
And most certainly, this coaching staff's most impressive win. 37-27. Whodathunkit?
GO COUGS!
