76 Classic 2011: UC Riverside Comes Back To Stun WSU, 64-63
Washington State will return home from the 2011 76 Classic without a win. The Cougars blew a 17-point second half lead and lost after UC Riverside's Phil Martin made a layup with 14 seconds left in regulation to put the Highlanders in the lead. Reggie Moore missed a jumper on the ensuing possession to secure the Riverside upset.
WSU led 54-37 with just 8:44 to play after a Faisal Aden basket and they looked in control. The Highlanders went on a 27-9 run from there. The WSU offense returned to its sloppy play with little movement and the Cougars struggled again down the stretch to take care of the basketball.
Reggie Moore finally looked capable on offense for the first 30 minutes, but was unable to generate anything going towards the basket when the Cougs needed it late.. Aden was back to his inefficient self, scoring just 14 points on 17 possessions used. Brock Motum led WSU with 15 points and 7 rebounds.
It looked like the Cougars would be able to escape with the win after freshman DaVonte Lacy stole the ball at midcourt and drove down for a three-point play to put WSU on top 63-62 with 35.1 seconds left. However, WSU was unable to get a stop on the ensuing Highlander possession.
Just a perfect rotten cherry on top of this crap sundae of a sports weekend for Washington State.

Those four season tickets to b-ball I bought are not looking like a smart spend
But at least they seem to align well with the four football season tickets. Bookends on the shelf of futility…
I'm pretty sure Nuss said something along the lines of
“Wait til they lose to one of the really bad teams in the non-con schedule, and we’ll see how everyone feels” about a month ago. How depressingly astute that observation was.

It was bound to happen at some point
Those of you who thought the basketball team lacked leadership the last two years, THIS is what a lack of on-floor leadership actually looks like …

Wow
How inspiring!
Sometimes I act irrationally.

I would love to be a fly on the wall to hear what is being said rght now inside

Tony B's Players
W/out Tony’s players we will get to seewhat kinf of coach ken Bone is…not a good start w/ klay and castro
we have a four man senior class that is among the worst ever to suit up for WSU
and they all get significant minutes (one is injured).
Not sure what you're implying
Bone will be much better off when all of Tony’s players are finally gone.
Yeah, Klay and D were killing us last year.
Team need more of these real winners like Aden and Moore.

Hopefully we don't play the Washington Generals this year
They’d probably get that long sought after W

we can make money from this.
Someone call Bill.
1) frustrate Coug fans
2) offer a sledgehammer and goggles
3) require a donation for access to the press box
4) PROFIT!

At least it wasn't a total loss.
Lady Cougs destroyed a team they should have destroyed.
Err, yeah. I don’t feel any better.
Only reason to watch this season
Is to see what young guys have potential for the next couple of years. It will be exciting to see how players like Lacy develop. Unfortunately the juniors and seniors on this team aren’t really capable of carrying a couple underclassmen playing lots of minutes to good team play and victories..
That's pretty much what Craig, Brian, BigWood and I have been saying since Klay and Casto left .....
It's like a every mariner's season since 2003!

This is just freaking awesome!

Reggie
What’s up with Reggie? I thought he would have a strong presence this year? Is he still injured?
Reggie Moore
Reggie Moore is not talented, he is athletic. Huge difference.
Reply fail on your part
But I was about to say something similar. Maybe not “not talented,” but certainly not as talented as everyone wants to believe, I think.
Can't finish at the rim anymore.
Injuries or mental after effects of the injuries, I guess. I don’t know which.

I suffered a high ankle sprain 4 weeks ago
I’m still not even mentally ready to walk on all of Pullman’s uneven slippery sidewalks.
Not supposed to be a perfect comparison, but now I can begin to empathize with an athlete’s mental toughness being challenged in a different way.
Keep your head up Reggie, we support you!

I'm not sure if this was meant to be funny,
but I laughed.

He actually was never all that great at finishing at the rim
About 47 percent on twos. What he was good at was drawing fouls, and he’s mostly not doing that anymore, settling for a lot of midrange jumpers.
Pretty sure this perfectly sums up this game
