WR heavily considering Cougars
3 Star Wide Receiver Gabriel Marks has de-committed from the SMU mustangs and he has said, though signing with SMU in February is still a possibility, he is also heavily considering Washington State. That means his visit to Pullman on January 13th is all the more important now.
Gabriel is a 5'11, 175 pound wide receiver from Los Angeles, California and Venice High School. ESPNU has him rated as a 3 star WR with great hands as well as great footwork, and good acceleration on his routes and after he catches the ball. According to reports, he is heavily leaning towards signing with the Cougs and the official recruiting trip he takes in mid january is huge for getting him as a recruit now.
Marks is currently deciding between Vanderbilt, Kentucky, SMU and Washington State, while WSU and SMU are the two he is mainly choosing between.

This could have been a FanShot.
Also, you should probably use links when talking about something. It helps back up whatever you’re saying.
The general rule with a FanPost and a FanShot:
is it something that could have been a link and a few sentences? FanShot
is it something that needs to be 100 words or more? FanPost.
This could have been a FanShot with a link to his Scout profile saying, “According to reports, he is heavily leaning towards signing with the Cougs” and it would have accomplished the same thing in a more proficient manner.
Just for future reference.
alright
thanks i’ll keep that in mind, wasnt quite sure what each one was for. I’ll upload future things like this into fanshots.
There is something about being a cougar.

Hmmm
Interesting post Benis, thanks for throwing it out there… I’d seen him before but for some reason was thinking of him as a CB, interesting he could play WR. And just out of curiosity, are you a law student? Clerk for the SCOTUS? From a fellow law student to another, I’m guessing? :-)
Honest question, not trolling
What difference does it make?
There are two different types of post for a reason.
FanPosts are for longer posts which need a lot of words to express something. A quick link, photo, or quote? FanShot. If everyone just posted every little link in a FanPost, actual FanPosts that should be read get pushed down.

The reason there are FanPosts and FanShots?
For all the reasons I already stated. One is a quick “hey check this link out” type deal (FanShots), and one is more of a “I have an idea that takes a while to explain and would like feedback” (FanPost).

Yeah I get that
but those aren’t reasons, that’s just an explanation of the intent of each category, not a reason why there are two categories in the first place. But you may not know the reason, it’s probably the SB Nation default, so I’d have to ask whoever designed the format for all the blogs. I’m not just new to WSU fandom with the arrival of Coach Leach, I’m completely new to SB Nation, so all these things that are old hat to you are new discoveries for me. I didn’t know there was a Texas Tech version of this thing until somebody linked me to CougCenter and someone else linked a TTU post. So, I’m just trying to get stuff here. I tend to ask a lot of “why” questions, and “that’s just the way it is” responses don’t do much for me. Wow, this might be enough words for a “FanPost” now, maybe I should move it. ;-)
The reason and differences between fanshot and fanpost.
With fanpost, you can type things other sites do not cover and depending on the subject they may refer to many sites to back up their claims.
Fanshot is where you want to bring up a article or subject from the internet, and share it with others without having to post 100 words.
Fanshot and fanpost help with topics that do not belong in current threads, topic may need to be addressed out of its current thread due to popularity, or just to bring something importaint up which otherwise could be hidden within the thread.
I hope covers what you want.

Yeah I don't know why SB Nation had it as a default setting.
But it’s a good thing. I can explain the uses for both, but since I didn’t create SB Nation, I can’t answer that question.

Fanposts
have a character/word requirement, and are meant for items that go into some depth.
Fanshots are meant to link quickly/easily without a lot of verbiage. No offense to Ben, but I’m guessing if he’d linked the article he got the information from, this Fanpost is nearly a word for word ripoff. Meaning he could have linked it, rather than plagiarized it.
