Mike Leach Press Tour Day: A Schedule Of Events
It's a busy day for new Washington State Cougars head coach Mike Leach, as well as for those of you planning to follow along with his media mini-tour. Leach flew into Spokane on Monday evening, heading over to the Davenport Hotel for a night of rest and relaxation. On Tuesday, he'll head to Pullman for his formal introduction to the world, which will be preceded by a meeting with WSU president Elson Floyd.
If you'd like to greet the coach -- and we highly encourage anyone in Pullman to do this -- head down to the Colorado Street side of Bohler around 8:30 a.m. He'll be getting into town right around then, so give him a welcome.
Before he runs the media gauntlet, he has some business to attend to. Leach needs to be re-certified by the NCAA in order to call recruits and do all those coach-like things, so that test should be happening on Tuesday morning, probably first thing. The rest of his schedule can be found below.
8:30ish a.m.: Arrive in Pullman.
11:30ish a.m.: Meet with Elson Floyd and Bill Moos, plot world domination.
12:00 p.m.: Introductory press conference in the CUB Ballroom. It is open to the public and there will be a live-stream. We'll also have an open thread, because that's what we do.
4:30ish p.m.: Board jet, fly across the state.
6:30 p.m.: Another event in Seattle. This will be a closed event. I'll be there and will have something on it after.
Again, we'll have all your streaming and threading information closer to game-time. Until then, try not to explode with excitement.

I assume there will be an assigned parking space

Video of his Arival
For those of you who are able to attend his arrival in about an hour or so, can anyone take a video or at least some good pictures for the rest of us not able to be in Pullman. I will assume there will be a good crowd and would love to see the reaction he gets when he finally arrives.
Nowhere
WSU hasn’t approved it’s usage yet. Check CougShirts.com when it becomes available.
wsu won;'t be selling pirate merch.
I was curious where I could find a pirate/wsu flag like on GameDay on Saturday. I called the Bookie; they won’t be selling a pirate/wsu flag. Just their regular merchandise. I assume that means also no T-shirts etc. but i didn’t specifically ask that question. I think this is incredibly short=sighted, as they would sell a ton of stuff, but i shouldn’t be surprised. maybe something will change in the future.
==Perhaps one of the T-shirt type shops in Pullman will pick up the slack.

They don't want to compromise the integrity of the WSU brand
Hard to fault them for that. In fact, I applaud them for it.

I say let's let Leach get a few wins under his belt before we go whole hog on the Pirate thing.
My mother-in-law already thinks we’ve become the Washington State Pirates. And if she thinks it… then it MUST be true.
That said, when I finally get my WSU flags for my garage I may swindle my wife into sewing some swords on. Maybe an eyepatch too.
yeah, you guys kinda need to earn
your pirateness or swagger.
i'm back bitches.....................deal with it.
most non WSU grads but Leach fan would want something with both Pirate theme and WSU
the crossed swords with WSU head is perfect as a sticker, a tshirt, and a flag
there is money to be made there for the enterprising
What time will he meet the team?
I didn’t see it on the schedule.
I checked the Pullman weather today.
37 degrees and clear sky. Great day to welcome The Captain to Pullman. I am bummed, because of work obligations I don’t think I can be streamin’ and threadin’.

You are letting work obligations take precedent?
Unbelievable.

Wait, this is real?

I don't recognize him in a suit.
That’ll come off as soon as the formalities are over. After two years in Key West, I bet he’s getting chafed around the collar. See there, he’s already making sacrifices for WSU.

I think this is probably the one day you HAVE to wear a tie.
I mean come on…
Many reports of new special teams coach
Eric Russell currently at Tenn…former Tech staff
For Mark's sake, hopefully that means Justin Wilcox will come with him.

My dream scenario is happening!!!
I believe I told Kyle in an email if Leach hired Wilcox as the DC, I would buy season tickets and go to every game without pants. It’s about to get real awkward in Martin Stadium.

That dude is a stud ...
He is as crazy as Mike is … is one of the premier ST coaches in football. Was on Tech staff for only one year before implosion.

WOW WOW WOW
It seems to be real and happening right in front of our eyes. Yes, I am so excited to finally see such enthusiasm within the fan base. It’s been many years for us old grey hairs. I have always commented on our complacency and apathy and now I see it coming to an end. Not to sound negative, because that is certainly not the case, let’s make sure we have realistic timelines to grow our successes. We see similar changes and expectations within already solid programs in the PAC-12 so the instant move to the top for WSU may take a tad bit longer then some euphoric fans may desire. Getting us there before the weekend would be fine with me but may not happen that fast. The stage is set and the future is so bright that I may need another set of Crimson glasses. Thank you Elson Floyd and Bill Moos, without your vision and solid leadership, this would never have happened.
I may be old school but I am so proud of our logo and it’s universal regognition. Let’s keep it alone and fly it as it was intended.

Hahaha, what a lame couple of questions.
SB Nation Dallas-Ft. Worth - Christopher Fittz is better than porn!
I was there to welcome Coach Leach at Bohler this morning.
Sad it was only my two friends and I plus the Coug Guys and Gals flag wavers. Kind of disappointing, I’d hope all these excited fans would show up.

If there is one thing college students hate above all else,
It is getting up early.

Yeah and I'm definitely not a morning person.
But I couldn’t miss out on this! There were plenty of people on campus, just no one down there.

There are two types of college students I remember
Those that get up early (before 10 am) and go to class.
And those that don’t get up early.
What about those who get up early, go to class then sleep in class?
by Mark Sandritter on Dec 6, 2011 10:40 AM PST up reply actions 4 recs
Never understood that.
Why wake up early to get to class on time if you’re just going to sleep? I’d rather do that in the bed I was previously in. Not that I haven’t fallen asleep in class before, totally have. Just don’t understand the kids that do it every single day.

Because class is boring and it made me fall asleep.
I wore hoodies every day just so I could prepared with something to lay my head on.

Then I fall asleep. Better some than none!

True true.
I always struggle attending classes fall semester, but go incredibly regularly spring semester. Not sure why…

It was always backward for me,
I had no problem in the fall, but good lord I struggled in the spring.
Because then you have to get out of bed again
and walk to your next class. Why not sleep closer to your next class? It is called efficiency.

Simple
Mom: Alfred did you go to class today?
Alfred: Yes, mom all three.
Mom: Okay I’ll put some money in your account.
Alfred: Hey guys! I got beer money!
