2011 NCAA TOURNAMENT THREAD: Elite Eight, Day One
Brad Stevens uses kenpom.com....and now we know the secret to Butler's success!
There is a chance that an eight seed can meet a twelve seed in the Final Four. If anyone had that in their brackets, they were closing their eyes and guessing.
Is it possible for UConn to lose on a neutral floor? Should they quit scheduling home games and instead invite schools to play far away in random arenas?

Dear Butler and Florida
Please don’t screw up our final Gus game of the year.
Thanks.

This is a big day for me
In my money bracket pool, I still have 3/4 final four teams (Kansas (winner), UNC and Arizona) left and I’m 2 points off the leader. The brackets in front of me either have only Kansas left or have none left. I think I’m sitting in good shape.
Fun fact of the day!
Marcus Capers is 8-36 on jumpshots this season. That field goal percentage is good for 1954th out of 2025 players who have at least 30 attempts.

Any of you who are on Twitter
Jo-Jo has joined the ranks – @RobGoBOOM. Let’s get him some followers.
I'm so conflicted
I hate Florida but I also hate Matt Howard
Think of the nightmare that watching Butler, a midmajor, go to a second final four
Would be for Gonzaga fans. For me, that was the deciding factor, my dislike of the entitlement of being the “best” mid major that Gonzaga fans have developed.
If I never have to hear about NAPA Know how again
I would be happy
What was that?

Wow!
What a horrible final possession for Florida. I feel better about our ugly looking final possessions all the time. Maybe it’s just a lost art.
These must be the worst late shots ever
Don’t wait until the 4 sec mark to try something. It’s not that hard.

YOU HAVE 8 SECONDS
YOU DON’T HAVE TO TAKE THAT DAMN SHOT

The idea was probably to allow time for an offensive rebound in case of a miss.
But yeah, poor shot selection in crunch time.

Is it time to start comparing Brad Stevens with the very upper echelon in coaching today?

Give it one more year
While he lost a great player, he did return a good core from last years team and they obviously aren’t intimidated by the tournament. And they were a team that was on the bubble to make the tournament for part of the year.
If he stays at Butler and they keep making the tournament and getting to the second weekend, than yes.
That time has already come.
Stevens is one of the top 5-10 coaches in the country. Period!
Is everyone ready for the CougCenter Fantasy Baseball draft at 5
I know I’m not.

Next time we're at the end of a close game and someone wants to complain
Just remember what Florida did today and FSU did last night. So horrible.
Agreed
That was overall a very poorly played game. I couldn’t imagine closing a game more poorly than Florida did during regulation. But then they played overtime and showed me that it could be done. It’s hard to believe that a team that demonstrated such a lack of discipline and basketball smarts got to the Elite 8. That’s 2 hrs. of my life I’ll never get back. Sorry, but that was brutal.
So between those two games and
the brick Marcus Capers threw up at the end of that UCLA game a few years ago, we can safely assume that anything to do with the state of Florida is bad news in end game situations.

It's all about Florida
With a wife that was born there, and in-laws that live there, I can tell you that nobody in Florida has an understanding of time. Apparently that translate to final possessions in basketball as well. Absolutely no concept of time.
