Both these teams faceplanted into the tournament. Oregon State losing 7 of 8 (the lone win over Stanford) and Stanford losing 5 of 6 league games.
The last time these two teams met, Stanford posted a 117.4 offensive efficiency...and lost. The Beavers topped that by putting up a staggering 127.7 efficiency number. So maybe we will see lots of scoring! That's a good way to hold interest in an opening round tourney game.
Previous Meetings: ASU wins 60-55 at Oregon, ASU wins 73-53 at home.
KenPom says: Oregon wins 66-64 with 56% confidence.
Oregon comes into this game on a four-game slide, including that 73-53 loss to Arizona State last Thursday. After a suprising 7-7 start in league play, the season-ending swoon ended any hope the Ducks had of avoiding the first day of the Pac-10 tourney.
Arizona State enters this game having won their last two games in Tempe over the weekend. Those wins and the upset of Washington State helped the Sun Devils win three of their last five and and avoid what seemed to headed towards a one-win conference season just a few weeks back.
The Sun Devils were able to sweep Oregon on the strength of some excellent defensive performances. The Ducks were held below 40% eFG% in both contests.
