In the comment section of Michael The Coug's fan shot, revealing the Martin Stadium Renovation renderings, Kearby posted a link to the Regents Master Plan for the campus. Within that Master Plan is something that will benefit WSU baseball, and probably lead to the creation of a Cougar Softball team. I will explain after the jump.
Here is the link.
In an interview with Ian Furness on KJR, Moos was asked directly if we were going to see a softball team at WSU in the near future. His response was along the lines of that the WSU AD is in compliance of Title 9, but they will look into the creation of a softball team.
Looking over the Master Plans for the campus, it became rather clear that the Board of Regents believes it (a softball team) is a strong enough possibility to begin planning for it. Pages 22 and 27 are the key pages. Page 22 says that; "Existing Baseball Stadium [Bailey-Brayton Field] could be re-purposed as woman's softball stadium." And Page 27 has a "New Men's Baseball Stadium". Obviously the Master Plan is not the final say so, but it is pretty close. And the fact that it mentions building a new ballpark, and (possibly) turning Bailey-Brayton into a softball stadium is interesting.
What do you guys think?
